Artillery shell? Angel falling from grace? Lightning strike? Meteorite impact? Jet engine fell off of a plane? Your mom?

That afterglow reminds me of something I saw where they shoot a ?bottle rocket? with a string attached to direct lightning strikes. I can't find anything at the moment, but this feels staged after looking at that still.

It's not a double?

/what does it mean?

Lightning strike. Scary and cool. Was once looking at my neighbour's - about 300 m away - during a storm when a strike killed the transformer on the pole by his house. Small arc going uo, big arc down - boom!

It's possible, but difficult, to trigger a lightning strike with a small rocket.  No string required.

That's pretty cool that they can use trails of material to make a conductive pathway. The one where they spoke of using a Kevlar jacketed copper wire is the one I was thinking of.

I read somewhere that lightning goes up, not down, but damn if it doesn't look like it goes down, not up.

that's called air ignition.  I had the opportunity to do some work in college with a meteorology lab where they often sent up model rockets with copper wire for lightning attraction.  It is literally so hot that not only does the air in the path of the lightning combust, but the turbulence from the air contraction around the heat channel causes several pops like you see there which is the reaction from the ozone in the air.  It's absolutely terrifying up close, but its something that is completely un-farking-real and fascinating.

Watched the video twice, still don't get it. What's wrong with the rainbow again, colors aren't in reverse.
