I would assume it like watching the food network.

He might perk up for some other things on rare occasion, but if put Meerkat on?  He comes running from the other room and plops himself right down on the coffee table in front of the tube.

But I'm sure there's something to what you're saying.  He's a hunter par none.

A cat that we had when I was a teenager enjoyed golf. We had one of those old school TVs with the 4 legs and everytime the ball would roll across the green our silly cat would dive under the TV trying to catch it.

That cat isn't sure WTF those things are, but he really wants to know if they taste like tuna.

Also, the reservoir hasn't been full enough (440 ft) to use that spillway since 2006

Thanks. Whenever I see that pic I get to wondering how they keep boats away from it. I mean, I'm sure they have ropes and such but wondered if they are sufficient to keep boaters away in case they had no idea that hole was there (drunk boater, that sort of thing).

It was. Every once in awhile he'd lose traction on the hardwood floor and go sliding under the TV, completely out of control. Then he'd muster up as much of his dignity as possible and walk out of the living room with an "I meant to do that" look on his face.

LOL!  Yeah, that's alot like Murphy.  He's a brute and likes to play rough.  But when he's losing he'll quit and walk away with the "I could beat you up but I don't want to" attitude.

My departed Cydney was that way too.

-> cats owner asked if i could tell she had a cat

-> No, but I can tell you have a box of turds in your living room.

I like the added touch of setting the remote down next to the cat to complete the 'afternoon with my favorite TV show' feel.

That said, my dog watches everything, TV, shadows, moths, the blinking light when the swamp cooler is pre-soaking the pads, nothing... It actually sux. Nobody told me, but Border Collies have OCD and will not let something down once they notice it. She'll spend 20 minutes trying to get behind the TV because that's the last place the moth went... 20 minutes is NOT an exaggeration, either. At least she doesn't obsess on the TV, but she'll sit there and watch it sometimes. I get worried that she's gonna fixate on that some day, too...

Years ago I saw something similar.
(AFV?)
The Indy 500 or some other auto race was on TV and as the cars made the turn the cat
was trying to catch the tiny cars as they came out of the TV screen.
Fortunately for all concerned, none ever did.

I vaguely recall that and I think you're right that it was on AFV. They also featured a ping pong playing cat from Oregon. Not really playing ping pong, but chasing the ball from one end of the table to the other.
