I was hoping he would sign with Miami, so they can turn Thabeet around.

Let Thabeet....drop.

Here's how the story on philly.com described the trade:

ESPN.com reported that the Sixers would waive Thabeet, and an NBA source confirmed that was expected to happen. Thabeet has a $1.25 million nonguaranteed contract. The source also said the second-round pick is so heavily protected that the Sixers will likely never have to surrender it. Essentially, Oklahoma City paid the Sixers for the trade exception. The Thunder have one year to use the trade exception.

One of my favorite Pitt basketball memories is the time when Dajuan Blair bodyslammed Thabeet on the court. That game completely exposed Thabeet and after that display, I have no idea why the Grizzlies took him at #2 overall.

That would have truly been a vacation for him. He would have been head over heals, spending his days walking in the sand,

The 2013-2016 76ers, ladies and gentlemen! Perhaps the only team in history whose 3-year-plan is based around helping other teams with cap space.

/To be fair, I think Hinkie's long-term plan will pay off
//But the interim steps make it really hard to be patient...

What a waste of a pick that was.  He would've been a waste at 52.  All he has is height.

Because they're the Grizzlies. And, since Blair outplayed him in those games, the Spurs drafted him in the second round, because they're the Spurs.

Blair's still in the Association. Thabeet's a bust. The Grizzlies are awful. The Spurs are the NBA champs. There's a trend here.

As opposed to dropping the ball?  (I don't mean at the beginning of the game.)

Hinkie seems to have a thing for risky big men with health issues, but if Noel and Embiid become stars, he's going to look like a genius.

/Was hoping they'd win the lottery and get Wiggins.

Will his job be to keep that part of the bench warm where Andrew Bynum used to sit?
//This from the team who used a 1st round draft pick to select Sean Bradley.

I'm not so sure he has a thing for the big men or if they just happened to become good value picks when the Sixers selected.  I think they would have taken Wiggins if they had the first pick.

That's not entirely true, he also has a great attitude and is the first guy off of the bench to get guys fired up when his team needs it.

/He's also got that weird orange patch of hair
//Mostly, he's tall.
