National burger day.

British source.

I am not in Britain

Ergo.  I cannot have a burger.

Damnit.

There is this great burger place near my house that is the BEST.  It's a little obscure, and you've probably never heard of it, but it's called "Burger King".  They have this burger called a "Whopper". I challenge you to find a better burger than that.

Still doesn't beat the little Irish place near me...

I tried this beast once.  10 ounce patty, NINE slices of cheese.  Then they batter it (bun included) and deep fry it.  Appropriately named The Heart Attack.  It was excellent, until I hit the wall about halfway through.  Managed to eat a couple more bites, then tapped out.  Probably shouldn't have eaten so many deep fried pickles before the burger.  Don't know if I'd do it again.  What am I saying, yeah I would.

I dunno, I find that O'Charley's serves the most authentic Irish O'Chicken Fingers around.

According to WIkipedia, the US (if that is where you are) has 4 burger days.
May 28 "International Hamburger Day"
July 28 "Hamburger Day"
Sept 18 "National Cheeseburger Day"
Dec 21 "National Hamburger Day"

Also, a burger that has gone too far in all the right ways: Slater 50/50 Merica burger. 100% Ground bacon patty, bacon strips, bacon cheddar, bacon island dressing, fried egg, bacon pretzle bun.

hm. near where i live there is this old man that used to have a farm, but stopped that and began a burger restaurant. It's weird, because you used to hear the animals quak quak here and moo moo there, but nowadays you don't.

A Danish classic.

Standard burger bun. Mayo. Deepfried pork belly. Picked cabbage. Pickled cucumber.

We had these before "American" burgers btw.

I've done the ramen bun as a grilled cheese with bacon and it was WAY better than I had originally thought it would be, so I'd imagine it'd be great as a burger too. I knew after ate the first one that I'd better not do that very often, though.

I've had a variation of the Luther burger, though, and it was really disgusting.

Runny yolks are nasty and the people who like them are just as gross. Break the yolk people.

Fried eggs are second only to bacon in the "it makes everything taste better" category

Fried eggs are great but make them over hard and with a broken yolk. I think lunch will be fried egg and fried bolgana on white bread with tomato.

I went to the Native Foods cafe with a vegan coworker on a business trip and tried their Oklahoma Bacon
Cheeseburger.

Now, I know you're thinking what I was:  A vegan bacon cheese burger? How good can it be?

Let me tell you:  it was damn good.  Granted, it wasn't quite the same as the real thing, but they got 90% of
the way there, and I would gladly eat it again.

For traditional burgers, though, I've got to go with DC-local chain Z Burger.

On vacation in south-central Wisconsin this summer, I had a "Happy Troll" burger at the Grumpy Troll Brew Pub in Mount Horeb. DAMN, that was a tasty burger...best I've had in a long time. Perfect char outside with juicy medium rare on the inside. Great spicy sauce on top along with melted locally-made cheddar cheese. The burger came with "beer battered fries"  which sound gross but were anything but...VERY lightly battered (almost imperceptible) but that extra crunch made them so delicious that I wolfed the whole serving down and I seldom do that as I find many fries lacking. Nice atmosphere and decent prices (burger and fries were $9.25). If you're in the area (it's about an hour from Madtown), it's worth the trip, IMO.

Why not include the BK Whopper?  It's going too far....across the border, and without a passport.
(But zillions of Warren Buffett's bucks.)
