The nausea is actually the best thing about 99.9999% of people's cell phone videos.  I guess I will still puke from the content.

I seriously doubt something got here before it has already spread all over Facebook.

Unfortunately, my wife feels the need to constantly show me stuff from her Facebook feed.

It is a true thing that phones as they are have gotten everyone to literally saturate the world with videos and photos of all kinds.

YouTube was busy as hell years ago, before the smartphone boom.  Now, it's just ridiculous.  And since it's not the only platform to post videos, it just means that there a gazillions MORE videos out there.

Get ready for 10 billion poorly done Hyperlapse videos in your social media feeds by people who have no idea what hyperlapse video even is for the next few weeks

Look at me! I'm a moron! I spend most of my time watching 6 second videos!

And they will all be in the vertical orientation.

Somehow my FB feeds with vids have suddenly decided that vids that haven't been posted or commented on in 24 hours should continually re-appear on my newsfeed for days on end. Hyperlapse has to be part of the conspiracy plot for FB employees to take over the world as everyone just continually watch the same vids on their phone endlessly, never caring to look up from their mobile device screens.

2014-08-27 03:53:41 PM
gotta say it's a pretty cool app...want HD version.

Jack Lambert's Missing Teeth: My what?

I don't know either, but I'll take the feed part and skip the social media part. It sounds delicious.

I'm looking forward to many, many less-shaky videos of people dumping ice water on themselves.

Nah, that's asking a little much from anything. However, if it makes shiatty videographers into mediocre ones, it's done it's job.

I saw a link on Fark last week I think about GoPro hyperlapsing. So is this an Instagram thing or a GoPro thing? Or did Instagram just buy it or what?

2014-08-27 04:49:19 PM
I'm an IT consultant, a business owner, and a parent of 3 kids, and I still have no use for Instagram for any of that stuff.

I thought the Sprint ad before the video was the hyperlapse thing, both we equally not that great, and I'm not looking forward to those.

No social media is this family. It's infantile, like never getting over being a puppy ..

Am I the only one thinking about what this new technology could do with POV videos that... and I mean I'm thinking very hard.. so I... damn, never mind.

The real hyperlapse effect, when done well, is beautiful. (See, for instance, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dTzy_N0Pn4)

This is just tacky.

If it doesn't immediately electrocute people who shoot vertical video, I'm not interested.

2014-08-27 06:08:47 PM
Instagram is making people's content *better*? I though the entire point of that service was to make your photos look like your camera has significant, long ago solved problems? Shouldn't an instagram video app make the video shakier, or add dust and scratches, or make the video stop halfway through as the film breaks, or make your phone burst into flames if it gets anywhere near a spark or flame?

Christ, I blocked so many people when that crap was in. There was just something extra obnoxious about those things.

I'm a creative services professional, an independent contractor and a parent of 1 grown child who lives many miles for me and I find his Instagrams a really nice digital trinket of his life - over and beyond the phone calls, skype and emails.

I actually quite cherish getting those photos.

I just can't hate Instragram.  It's a fantastic hot nude chick selfie generator.

That's because you're a professional and a family man that doesn't have gobs of down time to piss away on applying sepia filters to the tuna fish sandwich picture you painstakingly took at lunch to give it a nice urine hue

So it gets rid of the shaky by deleting half of the frames? That's some high tech stuff right there.
