A challenger appears!

"Big Trouble" was originally scheduled for release on September 21, 2001 and had a strong advertising push. The events of September 11 of that year cast an unshakable pall over the movie's comedic smuggling of a nuclear device onto an airplane.

One wonders how that line went down inside the many cinemas in Ferguson where the movie began playing only four days after Brown's death.

Newsflash for the Guardian: there were only ever two movie theaters in Ferguson and the last one closed in 2002.

When is it ever a good time to release a comedy starring Marlon Wayans?

this movie looks like it's going straight to VHS tape

I was watching Captain America:The Winter Soldier after its digital release, and the part where a very large number of white guys dressed as DC cops tries everything in their power to kill Nick Fury was a bit awkward, too.

And yet the movie has taken in 46 million on a 17 million budget, and it's still got a while to go.  Sounds like timing didn't affect it.

Didnt feel awkward to me, whitey loves to kill black men who have power.

Right. Ferguson. Hollywood is totally the victim here.

I was too distracted by the fact that it may have been the most ridiculous premise for a car chase in the history of ever.

How quickly we forget the renaming of the movie "Neighborhood Watch" to just  "The Watch" after the Martin shooting.  Talk about bad timing (not intended to be a watch/time pun, but still happy it turned out that way).

Not sure I follow you. Was it Fury having spy gadgets in a spy movie or super duper baddie Winter Soldier doing super duper baddie things?

Wag the Dog
Just a military conflict and a fabricated war hero story to distract from a president's beret wearing mistress.

No one gets hurt.

Thankfully the movie was hot garbage and landed with a thud at the box office. So, you know, if a tree falls in the forest and no one's there to hear it..

Do you ever wonder that maybe you have a problem?

It's a film about idiots pretending to be cops, from what I gathered, and one of them is black, and at no point does one of them shoot an unarmed person. This is just the guardian being over-sensitive and trying to provoke a story where none need exist.

So, a reality based film then.

Good point, apparently we very quickly forgot said flaming dumpster of a film.  Probably better for everyone that way.

LOL over the top shiat happening in a comic book movie (even one as serious in tone as Winter Soldier); who would have thought?

Not too many people, black or white, driving around with a minigun in their SUV. ... Yet.

I'm talking about the chase itself, which supposedly takes place a couple of miles from SHIELD Headquarters. So there's a MASSIVE car chase a couple of miles away involving the head of the agency, and they don't send any help?

There were perfectly valid reasons for not sending valuable resources to assist former Director Fury in what was clearly a minor traffic incident.

/Hail Hydra.

So you think its stupid that Shield doesn't send help, or that the Shield/Hydra guys didn't send more to kill him.

Yeah considering the plot is about SHIELD being infiltrated by Hydra who then try to kill Fury... I don't see why it's odd that they don't send people to help Fury when they're trying to kill him.

Ya, let's all get on the same page and wrap this up.

Hydra prevented or slowed the help. It was worth the suspicions that might arise in true Shield agents because if Fury escapes the gig is up anyways.

The final statement of the article was beautiful: "A more equitable solution, not only for cinema but society in general, would simply be for the police to refrain at their earliest convenience from killing innocent people."

Also, a generation ago, the movie "Spacecamp" had an unfortunate run-in with the Challenger shuttle disaster.

I started seeing this promo in theaters a couple of months ago.. and all I could think was "How in the fark did this get greenlit? This had to go through MULTIPLE LAYERS of reviews, and not one person with any clout said 'This is a really dumb idea .. and also, just what the fark will happen when people decide to try it themselves?'"
