Wanted one until someone here said they got it and it SUCKED donkey balls. I tend to believe them based on nothing but my gut instinct. Looks too neat on television to work as advertised.

Meh, I want to hit their parents for letting their kids dress and act like that.  Even if it is just for a commercial, there's no excuse for that kind of parenting.

This is a rare case where the American consumer isn't being incredibly stupid. It's nice to see for a change. The phone uses a very closed and limited OS that is designed to advertise to you constantly. And it does so at the same price as better phones.

Also, I don't understand the hate for AT&T. I've been using AT&T and their MVNOs for over 13 years now and I've never had a problem. If you actually look at the data, their service is as good as Verizon everywhere in the US.

You're part of the problem.  I wanna go all jihad on Sonic whenever I see those commercials.  That, and I'm still pretty mad about my first and only order of the cheesecake bites -- ordered them and a drink, got to the window, received the drink and 3 bites.  They asked me to wait to finish my order, so I waited 5 minutes and got a single fourth cheesecake bite.  It was $5 something, 15 minutes, for a drink and 4 cheesecake bites....I waited 5 minutes for a single cheesecake bite.

They've also done that to me with cheese sticks....seriously....one time I waited 10 minutes for a single cheesestick.  I was a real dick that time -- I opened the bag and only saw one cheese stick after waiting for 10 minutes and I was pissed off.  I looked at the guy and said "Are you farking kidding me?  10 minutes for a single stick?  You couldn't even hook it up knowing you guys farked up and made me wait 10 minutes for something that cooks in under 3?  I want to see your manager.  Now".

A few minutes later the manager showed up and asked what the problem was.  I said -- "I came through here and ordered a chicken strip dinner and some cheese sticks.  You guys give me all my food EXCEPT for a single cheese stick.  You then make me wait 10 minutes to get that single cheese stick, so yeah, I'm just a little bit pissed."

"Well, sir, policy says that.....(I cut him off)"

"I don't give a fark about what policy says.  I wait tables.  I know customer service.  I know that if I make someone wait for an unreasonable amount of time, I have to make it right.  Are you going to make this right?"

"How are we supposed to do that?"  (asking how to make this right really, really pissed me off....a manager shouldn't ask that question because they should already know)

"For starters, you could have thrown in an extra stick or two because of the long wait.  Could have asked if I needed a refill since I've been here for 20 minutes now.  Hell, that jackass over there could have told me about the 10 minute wait and I'd have said don't worry about it and gone on home without issue.  An apology about the wait would have been nice over that guy shoving that bag at me and saying here's your food.  Every person here handled this situation badly, even you trying to pass the buck to corporate instead of admitting you suck as a manager."

Sir, I....(cut him off again)

"Look.  I don't care what you have to say at this point.  If you really wanna make this right, take this....throws the single cheese stick at the manager....and go fark yourself with it.  I'm done with Sonic and I'm done with your punk ass."  (he really was a douchy looking punk with an "I'm better than everyone" attitude; his attitude is what fully set me off...saying corporate in the tone he did with a smirk on his face)

They really should stop naming all their products Fire. It's confusing and Firefox is in the phone market now.

Yeah I have 2 big problems with it:

1. Big fan of long battery live, have the Droid MAXX (the one with the 48 hour battery from the Edward Norton commercials) and love the dang thing. 48 hours is pretty fair unless you're just streaming 24/7. Hard to give that up, especially when its paired to a really solid device.

2. Been with Verizon forever, and where I live, I know just waaaay too many people with AT&T who have signal problems when we're hanging out, or going out, etc. to want to switch and potentially have to deal with that. I'm in a suburb of Nashville, so not like I'm in the middle of nowhere.

All that being said though, if it was released on Verizon I'd probably get it for my work phone to try it out.

That's a bit strong.  For instance, I have Tmobile, my brother has AT&T and my dad is on Verizon.  At our lake house my dad gets 3 bars of high-speed data in the house, my brother can occasionally make calls from outside and if the atmosphere is just right I can occasionally get a text through from outside.  They may be comparable in many places but not everywhere.

Switched from Samsung to LG with the G3. Since I had the two year old Galaxy S3 and not the S5, I had nothing to compare to.

All I can say is the G3 is a damn good phone. The screen is big and resolution is above 530dpi, but you can only appreciate it when you're looking at intense 4K video. There's a sample vid on the phone that's a convincer.  I'm sure when the larger iPhone6 comes out sometime next year, it'll be the same way. I wouldn't touch a small screen anymore, no matter what the resolution. Big hands and old eyes...

Not even remotely. In both downtown Denver and the Denver Tech center my company has buildings that everyone else gets signal fully... full bars, advertised data speeds, proper voice. That includes "lower tier" carriers like Cricket, Boost, etc. Sprint, Verizon... all great. We switched the company cell phone plan to AT&T, so my phone suddenly went to having "full" bars but barely getting any data throughput and not sustaining a phone call. Drops on a regular basis. Same problem in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. While skiing or in the mountains, Verizon has signal... AT&T and Sprint never do. The worst part is that AT&T flatout lies. "Full bars" with barely any usable signal, adding 4G icons to the iPhone 4 or 4S, whichever it was that was a 3G phone on their 3G only network. They hadn't even upgraded their equipment when they started claiming they had "4G". At least the other carriers had gone to LTE or HSPA+ before they started that.

No, you're suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, and you need help.

That.

It seems like everyone that I know is on a different carrier and we all have varied service depending on where we are.  For that matter, my Dad and I have the exact same phone and carrier and I can get service when he doesn't because I'm using a different set of radio libraries and RIL partitions (Atrix HD; I use Nextel (Mex Retail) radio/RIL and my Dad uses stock AT&T radio/RIL...AT&T is our carrier).  Also, some phones have better radios than others.  A lot of times my Motorola phones will have a weak signal when others have none at all (seen it happen with AT&T & Verizon Moto phones on multiple occasions when compared to Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5 on AT&T and Verizon).  Motorola either makes or buys good radios for their phones.

I can vouch for that as well.  My AT&T stock roms have 4G icons instead of HSDPA (3G enhanced) or LTE.  Flash a CyanogenMod rom and you'll get the correct icons (or edit SystemUI.apk and swap some png's).

Yeah, dude.  You're real hardcore.

Wasn't trying to be hardcore.  It was 10:30 at night, I had just got off work from my 2nd job that day (welded in the morning, 2 hours off, waited tables at a 5 star restaurant in the evening) and I was pissed off that I was at Sonic for 20 minutes for some deep fried crap.  It was also the second time in two months that they did that to me (a long wait for a single, individual item...cheesecake bite and a cheese stick) so I was still upset over the first one and just unloaded on that guy.  You work two jobs just to have some fast food punk act like he's better than you and that a 10 minute wait for an item that cooks in under 2 minutes is acceptable.

Like I stated above, if they'd have been up front about it and said "there's gonna be a 10 minute wait, we have a backorder", or anything at all, I wouldn't have been upset and I'd have left.  It's only a cheese stick.  I was mostly pissed about the long wait and their attitudes -- waiter shoved the stick at me saying "here's your food", turned around, and left; no sorry about the wait, no do you need anything else...just here's your food and left.  Then the manager tried to blame corporate policy, and I know damn well that corporate isn't to blame for their lack of communications, bad attitudes, and general ineptitudes -- that all falls on the manager, who didn't want to admit they were in the wrong (not that I gave him a chance, but passing the buck instead of being honorable and owning up to your mistake is all it takes for me to lose respect for somebody).

I waited tables in a very high end restaurant.  None of my tables EVER left upset or disgruntled at my service -- I worked at a good restaurant with good food, if they were upset in any way, it would be my fault.  I was prompt on drinks, only spoke when necessary, did all the fancy wine opening and presentation crap, let my customers know if something would take longer than it normally does, and the few times I was at fault for something (sloppy handwriting leading to a wrong order...happened once) I'd pay for it out of my pocket.  So as someone who goes out of his way to give good service, needless to say, I was a bit irked that I didn't even get below average service.

FWIW, that manager at Sonic, as well as a few other people, was fired a few weeks later due to the amount of complaints corporate received.

/I also intentionally waited on the black tables because no one else wanted to...even the black waiters
//They all tipped me very good

Actually it was a collusion between AT&T and Apple.

HSPA(3.5G)+ and LTE were all considered 3G services but carriers started naming their network services 4g to sound cool so the ITU added HSPA+, LTE, and Wimax to be included under the 4G definition.

So, when all this was done HSPA+ became covered under the 4G definition because the 4S supports it.

Apple and AT&T had to do something from a business standpoint to compete with LTE phones that were already on the market.  So they got together and came up with the "Since HSPA+ is now covered under the 4G umbrella, let us push out an update."

That reminds me of one of the Starbucks nearby. They absolutely suck in every way, but they happen to be on the corner of one of the busiest interesections in town so they still get a lot of business. Fortunately, there's one that doesn't suck just a little bit farther away. They can have 4 people behind the counter with the drive through line wrapped around the building but, somehow, only one of those people is making a drink and they don't know how to keep track of who ordered what or how to make it.

Could have asked if I needed a refill since I've been here for 20 minute ...

You sound fat.

I love my Fire TV. I love my Kindle Paperwhite. My fiancee and her kid love their Kindle Fires.... But I can't imagine going for the Fire Phone. Not yet, anyway.

/just sideloaded a bunch of emulators on my Fire TV. It makes an awesome retro console.
//It's also the best streaming video player I've owned, and I've owned them all.
