The Cubs did get into the World Series. I swear! It was 1945.

The Cubs have been in ten World Series. They won six pennants before there was one.

Saw the story in the Sun Times of the team returning to Chicago's Midway airport. The gave the plane the wash down salute as they pulled into the gate. Can you imagine such a reception at that age? This whole experience must be amazing for them.

And good for them. I thought there was no way they would beat Vegas. But, like they say, that's why they play the games, because you never know!

That was some of the most exciting baseball I've seen in this city in a long time. Their journey would have probably made a good movie. But, since they lost, I assume that kills that idea.

Major League ends with the Indians only winning the AL East. I think in Major League 2 it even says they lost the ALCS to the White Sox.

Those championships don't count. They only count after they give the game a fancy marketing name. Just ask Steelers fans, they'll tell you.

One of my favorite things of the past 10 years was that white sox World Series.

They also have a way better chance of getting shot and killed than the Korean kids.

The Bad News Bears lost the Championship and they made that movie twice.

They're doing a parade for these kids down Michigan Avenue, and there's a massive crown in Millenium Park for them.

I didn't watch any of the the LLWS, but good for these kids.

They've been clearing the decks of bad salaries and will likely be big spenders in the free agent pitcher market the next few off seasons. Plus they can trade some of their lesser prospects and players for more pitching. Not to mention they've gotten pretty good pitching out of their own homegrown prospects like Kyle Hendricks.

Why did we let them have Rizzo? Why?

Kris Bryant will be contending for MVP in a few years. The Cubs could be scary with just average pitching.

Then again, the Padres would be contenders if they had just an average offense, so that sort of speculation doesn't really go far.

Arrietta and Hendricks look like they could turn into the #2 and #3 starters. Ramirez has looked solid in a very small sample size, and will likely be vying for a starter role next season. Wada has shown some promise at times. Wood is having an off year, but he's only 27 and could possibly return to form for them in the future. Plus, Edwin Jackson will (I believe) be the only player making more than 6 million next year, so they will have plenty of room to pay for a top-line free agent starter when they are ready to.

All that being said, I don't think they will own the Central in two years, because there are no weak teams in that division. Cincinnati's age is starting to show, but I expect them to be better next year if everyone's healthy. It's going to be a five-way dogfight for the next 4-5 years, in my opinion.

Today, Chicago is peeing its pants over this Little League team....but I guarantee, in three or four days,
it'll be "Little League who?"   This whole business makes me think of a parent who buys his kid a
super-expensive toy for Christmas, the kid plays with it for about one minute....and then completely
ignores it forever.

The Cardinals have won something like 10 or 12 pennants since the Cubs last won it...a T-shirt
popular in St. Louis mentions that, at the current pace, it'll take the Cubs more than eight hundred
years to win as many pennants as the Cardinals.

Well, that's just dumb. I'm pretty sure 16 pennants in 138 years is a faster pace than 3 in 800+ years.

All the bandwagon yankee fans were sporting their "we let our rings do the talking" shirts when they played 2 games at Wrigley this year.  "You from NYC? Oh, Deerfield you say? Wow, picked the best team as your favorite."  It's just another sign of insecurity from other teams' fans all justifying something using the Cubs as a punchline.  Just like the white sox.  Won a world series in the last decade, fans sitting around worried about how the Cubs are doing.   You hear it all the time.  "We had a bad year but the Cubs did too so whatever."  The Cards are an amazing organization in a great city of fans with an awesome park.  A quick google search shows them having nearly the highest attendance in baseball.  What are they doing?  Making sure people know the cubs suck by propagating the most played out joke in north american history.

I'm not saying they won't be good but we've seen this dozens of times before. I'll believe it when they actually hoist the trophy. They were supposed to win one in 2007 and 2008 but we know how that turned out.

The current bravado shown by Cubs fans may be worse than it was in those years, although I don't know how that's possible.
