I just don't understand how he couldn't have used his world class speed to run downstairs and save him, instead of jumping from the second floor. Would ten seconds or so really have made such a huge difference?

Better question is...where was the kid's parents and why were they allowing him to swim when he didn't know how?

Are we sure that alcohol wasn't involved and the nephew isn't just a cover story for something idiotic?

You're right, I'm sure time isn't that much of a factor in drowning cases.

Good for him he was able to save the kid even while saw had those double sprains. He's damn lucky he didn't suffer something worse from the jump that would have stopped him from saving the kid at all.

You saved the kid, and you didn't even break your ankles?

You don't know how fortunate you were.

In the followup, it's revealed that the hug and thank you card that he received have been considered to be in breach of NCAA regulations concerning student athlete's financial support, and his scholarship has been revoked and sanctions placed upon the school.

Yes, yes they can.

I've jumped or fallen from that height, and not farked myself up at all, or at least not bad enough that I couldn't run if I had to. OTH, I did watch a guy die from falling roughly 6 feet once.

"USC Cocks" hats were always big sellers around Westwood.

Even as a Stanford fan who has to face them in week 2, very heroic thing to do and I hope he's back on the field as quick as is humanly possible.

Annnnd now its coming out that this may not have been the real story. Apparently two people have called Sark and told him stories that contradict Shaw's.

You're going to turn out to be right when the original version of events ends up being complete bullshiat.

Apparently he leaped out of a window to escape the police, who'd been called due to a domestic-violence incident.  Or so they say.

Gotta feel like they would be able to catch a guy with two sprained ankles who was just outside.

Well, if you get to tell the public a story about how you jumped out and saved your nephew, you probably didn't tell that story from jail (and have anyone believe you), which is where you'd be if you'd been caught for some type of domestic violence incident.
