I made a couple of silent but deadly contributions in the produce aisle this weekend.

We need to start taxing the ocean before it's too late!

Might be causing global warming?! I hope some valiant petroleum conglomerate can come save us by mining it dry...

Mrs Poopy calls me "bubbling methane vent", too. Coincidence?

Hydrates/Clatherates are incredibly frightening.   They could potentially put us on an express elevator to hell.

Pick: See, I told you man was not responsible for global warming. Now do you believe me?

I can never be sure if anyone is serious online, but this article has a finger pointed pretty squarely at man.  Methane venting is coming from Clatherate decomposition which is happening due to rising ocean temperatures.   If the ocean temperature rise is not caused by man then ok its not our fault, but I'm pretty sure most everyone agrees we did this.

Once again.  Clatherate decomposition scares the bejeesus out of me.

If big oil ever works out how to "mine" the ocean's methane hydrate reserves, the planet is seriously farked.

The amount dwarfs the amount of oil and gas ever in the ground.

There is a paper out that asserts shifting trade winds are more responsible for ocean regional warming.

The huge deposits of frozen methane gas will sublimate with increasing ocean temperatures and the Holocene Epoch will end.

Acid rain is real. We just did something about it. Same as with CFCs and lead, although with lead, it appears we weren't fast enough to keep it from affecting you.

I read a much longer, more complex article on this and it made no mention of global warming at all. I wondered how long it would take someone to make a huge jump to a  gross oversimplification about another thing altogether.

Scientists:  "Hmm, there's clathrates down there...."
Sane people:  "Say, all that heat in the oceans could melt the clathrates."
Wingnuts:  "Umm...AL GORE!"

Huh... this has been spoken of for years as a major "tell" of global warming. The gigatons of methane clathrate starting to boil out as the seas warm. We already know they're coming out of the tundras.

Yeah, it's pretty much on. Sadly.

The Hindenburg was a dirigible, not a blimp. And most of the flames came from the flammable paint, not the hydrogen.
Also, blimps use helium, which is inert.
