This is not a repeat from last year.

So all they need is some unheralded Arena league QB to come in and shock the world.

We will rally around Shaun Hill and we will play good football.

Hill is better than what the Rams fielded last season but I can't say he will suddenly turn into Warner.

Shaun Hill has no ability to throw downfield. Defenses will be able to play Cover-2 and sit on all the short routes. Unless you guys can clone Eric Dickerson, you're farked.

It's so nice to know we're one injury away from possibly having Blaine Gabbert as our starting QB.

I definitely spoke too soon. I really didn't expect Gabbert to beat Kaepernick to make the first TD in the preseason.

He dropped back more than a couple steps on occasion.  Kap tends to not retreat out of the pocket.

Had flashbacks of Alex Smith taking snaps and sprinting away from the line of scrimmage because of three rushers.

Are Bradford's knee ligaments made of fine China?

Now we can move on to much more vital preseason discussions like how good would he have been if his knees didn't blow up every year? I thought he had some potential and he had some flashes in between his injuries. He might even have kept the Seahawks condemned to even more obscurity. Such a shame his weak knee ligaments have foisted this unholy plague of the rest of the NFL.

Based on preseason alone the NFC West might all lose against the broncos, nfc south tougher than west

Also, if they're going to trade for a QB, they should mortgage the farm on Cousins. Someone needs to pry him away from Washington before they finally figure out he's their best QB.

I don't think he was ever first overall pick talent wise

Every season, there are 3 or 4 huge "WTF" things that happen with teams in the league. Stuff like "How the hell are Andy Reid and Alex Smith worth 9+ wins?" and "What the hell happened to the Falcons?"

I kind of wonder if, in Week 8 or 9, we all aren't asking "What the hell happened to the NFC West?" The public has the NFC West the best division going away, and I understand why. But it wouldn't take much. This...the Niners defense can't recover...Russell Wilson rolls an ankle and Browner/Thurmond prove tougher to replace than people think...Carson Palmer goes for the INT season record...

Cousins might be Washington's best QB, but he's a solid backup and nothing more.  Certainly not anything worth mortgaging the farm for.  I'd much rather suck this year and hope to draft Mariota.

Clearly you're trolling. Not one serious person thinks he's the better QB. Look at his numbers in his starts last year: passer rating of 54.

Anyone got footage of Bradford's NFL Combine; specifically, his vertical leap?

If he had increased knee valgus (basically, bending the knee inwards) while squatting to jump, they should have seen this a mile off. It's been associated with increased likelihood of ACL injury. RGIII's jump made his knees look like a freakin' hour glass.

Eh it would be a 1 year rental and he has no regular season experience. He would have minimal salary cap hit, but that's true of a lot of inexperienced 2nd and 3rd string QBs. I'd say they would be lucky to get a 4th round pick. That said, with what Garappolo has shown so far in camp, I'm sure they would definitely trade Mallett if they got a decent offer, since he's gone after this year anyway.

Back to the topic on hand, I love what Shaun Hill has been able to do as a spot starter in this league, but I just think he doesn't give them an opportunity to compete at all this year.

Cousins probably has the best contract of any QB they could bring in and still have some hope for a breakthrough from. Low base and they'd have him for a year longer than they would Mallet.

The team has the least amount of available cap left, so they're limited in the moves they can make.

If they IR Bradford they'll have a ton of cap space.

Um, call me crazy, but it's not like Bradford was solid gold last year before the knee thing, what with the overthrowing and that frightened squirrel look he got while rushed out the pocket and just...well...it may be just me, but he looked like he needed to be replaced. Just fish up an Arena QB.

He's been not-terrible when he plays, especially given the offense around him.  I think he'll make a very fine backup.
