I fully respect the nuanced and fine portrayal by the award winning actress Sally Field in this celluloid and would love to discuss a future of a loving and long committed relationship over coffee.

If I get to Vermont, I will drink beer. Also, if I got to go back to the late 1970s I would hit Sally Field like the fist of an angry god.

She clearly needs some Boniva stat!  On the topic, downside is sobriety checks every 50 miles.

I'm a recent transplant to VT, and I love the area, and the beer.  So does everyone else apparently, since I can't even buy those beers before it sells out.

I was just about to correct you on that.  Yep, Todd Snider.  And definitely not that song-stealing hack Garth farkin' Brooks.  (I realize your pic was Ray Wylie Hubbard and not Garth).

Meh. A planned trip is not a "beer run". A "beer run" is when it's 8pm on a Sunday and you're hanging out in a state with blue laws and at the spur of the moment you decide you need to drive for 2 hours to cross a state line to find some place to sell you whatever beer they have, no matter how crappy.

In college, by halftime of the 1:00 NFL games we had usually killed off whatever, if anything was left from Saturday night's soiree.  We would then jump in the car and haul ass down US 30 across the IN/ILL border to Line Liquors, pick up a few more cases and get back in time for the second half kickoff.  An additional plus was having Denver natives in the car who would spring for a case of Coors in exchange for the driving.

As a Marylander that will be driving to Vermont Tuesday to get beer (not to see the Missus' sister, brother-in-law, 4 kids, cats, rabbits, dogs, etc), I approve of this article.

Sure, her family is there, but I'm telling myself it's for beer. I only hope to obtain a couple bottles of Heady Topper. Maybe my BIL has em already. I am bringing him Dead Rise...

And I'll be hitting NY breweries on the way home! Hello Ommegang and Southern Tier!

what's a "beer bun?"

2014-08-25 07:48:23 AM
I was at the Virginia Craft Brewers Cup festival and camp out this past weekend. Had a blast, met, and re-met a lot of friends and colleagues. drank a lot of good beer, I also drank a lot of.... not so good beer. some 80 breweries and cideries were represented at the festival. It was good to have that many representations of whats out there all in one spot. Also, to enforce the notion that just because there is a lot of beer out there right now, does not meen it's all good beer. There were a few that I had only to take a sip of to find a place to toss out my sample glass and try again before I had to go back and work our tent.

by the way, our Pilsner came in second in it's catagory. for some reason, the host brewery swept the compititon for the third year in a row
