If you name your son "Poet," it's a smart financial move to give him his lunch money and then immediately beat him up and take it back yourself.

Mostly, don't name boys weird shiat. You can get a lot more crazy with girls' names -- as long as it sounds pretty, and is spellable, it's usually OK. But for boys: stay with the classics, in their traditional spellings.

Also, no more Aidens, or anything that rhymes with Aiden.

Yesterday I encountered a little kid named Ferdinand. Yup, happy little all-American Ferdinand.

Stuff I learned on Facebook yesterday:

My godson's girlfriend's best friend (whew!) is expecting her first baby. The kid is female, Mexican-American, and Expectant Mommy plans to name her Annistyn. *facepalm*

Get a pet if you want to give something a stupid name. Don't abuse your child with it.

Calliope would be a beautiful name but most people reading it will botch the pronunciation.

Just had us a Callan William last week to go along with our 2 year old Fiona Aldea. All are family names. I am surprised how popular Fiona is these days.

He and his mom are doing great.

I can think of a LOT more names used less than the ones on that list - perhaps some were dropped for not being used enough and therefore statistically insignificant?
