I guess about the only American young person who was OK with being bleach-white was
Casper the Friendly Ghost.

And this is precisely why us gingers will take over the world.

All your sun worshippers are going to tan yourselves out of existence.

A world controlled by gingers and basement dwellers. Sounds...terrifying.

FTFA: The reasons for the decreased use of sunscreen among teens aren't clear, Basch said, but she thinks future research should focus on finding out why.

They're going outside less.  Next question.

I have avoided the sun most of my life. I try like hell not to get a sun tan. As a result, in my late 30s people still thought I was in my young 20s. Now, in my 40s, I am running into people who knew me as a teenager and they're stunned that I don't look as old and haggard as they do. They have dried out skin, spots, wrinkles galore, moles, skin tags, and splotchy skin tone. They've lost a ton of elasticity. And yes, a few got cancer.

I have smooth skin. Few wrinkles. No discernible spots.  I'm light-skinned (considering my heritage, anyway. My dad is red-skinned. I got my mom's pale Welsh tone) and my epidermis still has an impressive amount of elasticity for my age. All of this because I avoided the sun.

I watched the prettiest girls from my school years turn into haggard old-looking women with leather-handbag skin before they were 30.

Your skin is your largest and most precious organ. Why would you choose to BAKE it? How can you think that's a good idea?

I find tanned people unattractive. To me it looks downright gross. I know, logically speaking, that they look that way because their skin has been cooked, and it's damaged. If you want to look like a Thanksgiving turkey that was left in 20 minutes too long, that's your prerogative, but to me it's a sign of abject stupidity-- Choosing momentary vanity over long-term health (and beauty, actually. Your tan may make you "hot" as a teen, but it will make you look like crap when you're a middle-aged divorcee looking to find a new partner after your most-likely-superficial spouse decides they're leaving you for someone who doesn't look like a worn-out catcher's mitt).

But go ahead and keep doing it. I like the fact that when I and my girl are in our 50s we'll look like we're under 40, while all you tan freaks will look like orange 70-year-olds.

It's late. Shut up. Grammar is the first to go.

In your case, it appears that tolerance is.
