My uncle's all original (save speakers and upgraded disc brakes), help me out, '66? the paint is new-ish, but is a factory original color. i think he said the former owned (his wife's uncle, so it stayed in the family) had a low-rider style "chain" steering wheel for a long time, but after he passed, turns out his mother had saved it. so that went back on.

kicker: something insane like 56K miles. the original owner lived in a very small town in Arizona and so while it was driven regularly, there wasn't anywhere to go, so........yeah. freaking thing is so ridiculously clean. He popped the hood, and the engine -- once again, all original -- looks like it just left the factory floor.

freaking time machine.

I was looking for my second car and saw a Mustang II in the classifieds. I went out to see what it was like and hopefully my DO NOT WANT face wasn't apparent. Needless to say, it "didn't meet my needs."

I had a 1969 Boss 302.  It looked great, but I've never had a car that handled that badly.  Utterly terrifying at high speed.

Happy Birthday Mustang.

I'll take my Challenger though, I just find it's a better all around car.  It's got tons of Muscle, nice handling, a great trunk, and a useable back seat.  And the looks, it's got great lines.

I have a blue and silver 1990 mustang. >225,000 miles and it is still more reliable and better handling than most things on the road. 24 years old and strangers still come up to me and ask if I'm willing to sell it. Answer s always 'nope!'

A '68 mustang was my first car-in 1996. It was beat and needed a lot of tlc , but ran well enough. I learned most of what little I know about repairing cars from that ride. I miss driving it, but don't miss the had mileage.

You know what? It wasn't that great. It's a reskinned Falcon, and not even the height of performance available at the time.

So you honestly aren't missing much.

Taking it off someone's hands and moving it is an acceptable compromise.

A little off-topic, but what was an article about 19641/2 Mustangs doing on the Mother Nature Network site?

I mean, it's a well-written article and interesting and informative, but somehow I can't fit it into what I would suppose the farking Mother Nature Network would care about.

My mom owned one of the really beautiful 69 candy-apple red Mach I Mustangs with the hood pins and racing package. (The coolest gift my dad ever got her)
mustangattitude.com
One of my first cars was and old primer-gray 67 beater Mustang with fat 60's on the back and Cragar SS rims. (The rims were probably worth more than the car)  I brought it over to my parents house to 'show it off'. I had left the hood unlatched after showing my dad the motor. When I took my mom for a drive and 'punched it' the hood flew back, bent the hinges and smashed out the windshield. She was terrified and I was heartbroken, but yet some nearly 30 years later I am grinning ear to ear as I recall the story and retell it on FARK.

Peace and Love

Antilope: The 50th anniversary of when Ford made a different shaped Falcon.

That's exactly what the original car was, the 65-66 models were built on the 1964 Falcon chassis.  For 1967 Ford moved the Mustang to the Fairlane/Torino chassis, where it remained until 1974, when it was built on the Pinto chassis.

Bad parking is bad parking no matter how many spaces the guy has. He's a double-douche if he's deprived someone else of a parking spot permanently just to have 2 spots for his 1 car.

CSB

I had a friend that jsut lusted over a 69(?) fastback. It is all he ever wanted in life at that point. He found one and made payments for a few months until the price came down to where he could afford a loan (don't ask) from the bank to make it officially his.

We (he) drove that thing everywhere for two weeks showing it off and feeling like the cat ate the canary. Coming back from our girlfriends houses one night (they lived in the same town about a block apart) we got t-boned by a drunk driver blowing a stop sign going at a serious rate of speed. We were not hurt (not sure how) but he sat on the sidewalk at 3AM crying like he lost everything he ever loved.

/end CSB, do not understand the 'love of car' thing

My dad had a 1964 1/2 pagoda green mustang with 1965 pony seats in it.  It was in terrible shape when he bought and he loved those seats so he restored it with those instead of the original interior.  A few years later my family got really poor and we had to sell it.

All th enegative comments on the parking remind me of Johnny in "Airplane"
