I'm no fan of the MPAA but apparently the movie has multiple eff words. That's an automatic R, no matter what. So pick your battles, gays

Once again, gays with filthy mouths are subject to discrimination. It's Lenny Bruce all over again.

And when making comparisons, one should more say whet it has in common with a few PG or PG-13 movies, not what it doesn't have in common with some torture porn and brutal action movies.

It's a stupid rule overall, though.  I mean, TFA notes that this movie got the same rating as some sicko slasher movie featuring women getting disemboweled and having their breasts sliced open.   How can a system that rates a movie with sick shiat like that and another where you hear a couple of f-words the same way be taken seriously at all?

Because there are essentially only three ratings. PG, PG-13 and R. Almost nothing gets a G or NC-17 rating anymore and really only children's movies get a PG. So yeah, movies with highly disparate levels of offensiveness are going to get the same rating.

The MPAA's rules may be stupid but they are the rules and according to the rules that's the rating it had to get. All they had to do was cut the language and re-submit it, happens all the time. But that wouldn't get them in the news.

Most of that torture porn shiat should get NC-17 at the least. It's just vile.

More than two farks and you get an R rating.  It's a stupid rule, but it's hardly new. I can't believe the director didn't know that.

Ratings have many, many stupid rules. If I remember correctly, anything containing "ninja weapons" (like throwing stars or nunchucks) is instantly adult-only in the UK.

And, well, Germany has some hangups about swastikas. For some kind of reason.

He had to have known it. But we're here talking about a movie we otherwise would not have heard of aren't we?

Now what will all those fifteen year-olds into character-driven dramas about relationship issues between men in their sixties do on Saturday night?

Drugs, one supposes.  And join gangs.

Hipsters love to rag on Micheal Bay but had this been on of his joints it would have been more marketable AND rated PG-13.

First of all you don't have to be a hipster to hate Michael Bay and it was already explained in this thread why it was rated R.

My thoughts too. Sadly, I read the last part as "So suck it, gays".

Why did Indy even bring him along? He was more useless than Willie in Temple of Doom.

Leave this one alone Ghey Chicken Little. Save it for the important things.   You're being treated equally, so SFTU.

So, like... are kids not allowed to watch the Ninja Turtles?

No. But they were allowed to watch the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.

And the nunchuck scenes were missing from the UK version.

From the German version, too, although I'm not aware of any rating rules in that regard. Then again, the movie was rated for 6 and above here (whereas UK PG seems to be 8 and above), so they probably just wanted to lessen the violence. Which is why they also added cartoon noises.

it spells "romance" with an e instead of an a

romanca?

I like that it is only PG in Canada. Canada doesn't fear their children dying or becoming immoral from that naughty F-word.

Why was this post withdrawn?

While I understand the confusion.... Because the movie plot centers on a romance between two men, the headline suggests that the second syllable is pluralized: roMENce.

Welcome to Fark, do try to keep up. :)

They don't tag all repeats, most of the time they just pull them. Different mods don't always know when something has been posted before.
