I do hope all you citizens out there are taking notes on this lesson in what the police bosses think of the population that pays their salaries.

Schellman told TIME that the department does not intend to release the "investigative" component of the incident report, the part that details Wilson's version of events.

"We're still making it up ah, editing the final version."

Like the Challenger disaster is taught in management schools as how not to do it, this will be used as a public relations counter example for decades.

2014-08-22 05:02:23 PM
This case started to smell when the alleged beating of Wilson was released FIVE(?) days after the shooting.

2014-08-22 05:15:10 PM
This bears repeating- The "bare bones report" isn't Wilson's report and isn't the Ferguson PD report on the shooting which is case number 2014-12391 (see page 7 Supplemental Report 001 of Ferguson PD case number- 2014-12388- the robbery report) it's the report of the St Louis County PD Homicide/Sexual Assault officer who was dispatched to the shooting scene at 12:43, 41 minutes after the shooting (St Louis County Police Department Report 2014-43984) and 23 minutes after St Louis County PD officer Dellwood arrived on the scene (per Page 1 of the Event Report in Ferguson PD Case No 2014-12388).  Any statement that this is the only report on the shooting or that there is no Ferguson PD report on the shooting is false as the following statement from page seven (Supplemental Report 001) proves when it refers to "Ferguson Police Report 2014-12391" and not simply "case 2014-12391."

Is there a single thing this police department has done right since the shooting?  It's like they're begging for the Justice Department to spank them.

I'd be willing to bet this isn't an isolated case. The ACLU could have a field day with this and people previously convicted.

Learn how to read, subby. They didn't say there wasn't one, they said they weren't releasing it.

You know, like in every case everywhere every time.

Until Jury selection is made, they aren't going to release any smoking gun evidence the "defence" will have eliminated because it hit the news.

Well, they have brought people together from all sides of the political spectrum to demand cop cameras.

A contact report is not an admission of guilt, but instead one of the requirements of the job by department policy.

Police need to be reminded they work for the populace.

Maybe the police didn't have time to do the paperwork because they were busy trying to keep the place from being burned to the ground as people looted shoes and rims and shot at them. All in the name of justice for the criminal that was shot of course.

Maybe if the police did their damned paperwork, there'd be some transparency.  Can you find a single use of force report filed by the Ferguson police department in the past 10 years?  They can't.

There has been an unconfirmed sighting of two tall suited men meandering around Ferguson carrying small pocket knives and badges.  Asked who they were one replied tersely "Justice". Asked what they were doing the other smiled, looked at a near-by tree and said "Switches"

Is it wrong to know that this Department is neck-deep in press? "Time"? This pleases me.

Ferguson PD Incident Report

1. Advised two jaywalking African-American males to return to the sidewalk.*

* Also shot one to death.

Im thinking that Ferguson police chief guy might have a political future. He certainly has the chops to spin narrative. He needs resources to manage it properly. I don't think he has the skills on his team to sway national media but a good campaign manager or chief of staff can bring that with them.

I predict at least a talking head career.

This. It's absolutely beyond me why the public thinks that everything needs to be justified to them, on demand. Every single person complaining would be *pissed* if their own court defense were botched because key evidence was mishandled and declared 'inadmissable.'
