(Talking Points Memo)   Rapper Talib Kweli flips his shiat, while talkin' 'bout hits, taken to Brown's melon, biatchin' out Don Lemon. It started out calm enough, 'til Don started bein' all gruff, bout how CNN is great, which we all know it ain't. *drops mic*   (talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 124

Talib who?

Gotta admit, though, Don was making it hard for him to finish a single sentence.

Some people say that CNN's coverage has been terrible on almost every subject for years.  Can you respond to that, Mr. Lemon?

More people need to start walking out of interviews the moment these ahole reporters start interrupting. It used to be only the loudmouth pundits that did this and now it seems like everyone does it. If you want to do the talking, then go to your producer and schedule all the time you need to talk. If you are interviewing a guest, shut your farking trap until it's time to ask a follow up question or cut to commercials.

And so much this.  Any TV news program that involves a guest interview is unwatcahable these days.  I wish the data were available to plot average uninterreupted guest response time vs broadcast year and look at the downward slope.

Talib Kweli made some valid points. Don should not have taken offense, instead he should use this as an opportunity to improve the quality of journalism in the USA. Also, TK was almost done with his point... WTF is up with the interruption. Rude.

Usually, when you punch someone in the face, they respond by punching you. Its understandable that the folks doing the hitting don't want to be hit back. Because hitting back is violent. Everything else should be excused.

This is basically been the moral focus of Talib raps for years. You don't have to enjoy him to gather that these are issues that he has dedicated his life to. Taylor Swift and Bieber don't have a single belief about anything as passionately as Talib feels for racial injustice. Whether you agree with his handling is your prerogative, but you have to acknowledge his passion.

I agree, some of the CNN heads, like Costello, are the worst for that, and it's just as bad if not worse on the CBC in Canada.
I don't understand why Lemon has that job, because he achieves Larry King levels of ignorance while trying to seem knowledgable at times, stumbles over his tongue, and yes, interrupts guests when they have not finished making their point. Like King, he seems to just not listen or comprehend much of the time. Too busy trying to keep the show rolling along: that's TV, that's the show biz.

In Pashto/Arabic "Talib" means  "student" or "seeker" and is the root of the Taliban (students) movement which actually did start off as a student movement.

Why is CNN interviewing a terrorist?

2014-08-22 12:33:37 PM
I don't like "socially conscious" rap. I prefer to hear about violent thugs movin dope, slappin hoes, drivin sweet cars, and battling cops. It's like watching a movie or playing a video game. It's purely for entertainment. Now if I wanna hear about intelligent things I'll read a book.

Yup. Like I said, I definitely understand it and that's why I still enjoy the music of both artists. Our views don't have to line up perfectly. But I think it's safe to say I'm also in the "cut this shiat the fark out, goddamnit" camp.
