Got only 25 cents a tooth when I was a kid. At the time I thought that was pretty good.

I think our local tweekers believe in the tooth fairy, and are trying to cash in.

me too!

And really, even adjusting for inflation, why should kids be getting $3-5 a tooth or more?  It's a tooth.  They are getting another one.

I only got a dime.  My parents were cheap frugal.

OTOH, a comic book only cost 10 cents back then.

Quarter Brigade here. Early '80s. Inflation-adjusted, that's 62 cents today.

To be fair, my parents are perpetually broke. One of my teeth netted me an IOU. No joke.

You and I must be the same age. And parents weren't cheap (or frugal), they had one income and lots of kids and not an extra dime to be had.

To be fair, quarters were for front teeth only.  I think all three of us are close in age.  Usually it was a dime.

I was, and still am, amazed that mom got that coin allll the way to the end of my pillowcase and I never woke up, not once.

Still miss you mom.

$3.40 IS THE AVERAGE?!?!?!?!

Holy hell.

I got a quarter, my kids get a dollar.

//Don't judge me.

Not only did my kids get just a lousy dollar per tooth, they had a VERY tired, forgetful tooth fairy (exhausted single mom with no child support for years over here) who usually took a few days to get there.

Judge me all you want - this IS Fark, after all.

Ditto.  Anything more was considered quite unusual.  Not bad for the time, either.
