The lengths to which food corporations will go in research and development to sell a few more million units of pure sugar and crap is astonishing.

Maybe if you have a brain injury that ruined your taste buds. Same holds true for people who like Redvines.

Red Vines are made from a wonderfully-addictive chemical. Probably petroleum-based. I miss how they taste. I don't miss what they were doing to my pancreas. And probably urinary and reproductive system. Who knows what's in those?

You probably like the watermelon Oreos too.  Golden Oreos are surprisingly delicious, peanut butter are disappointing, and pretty much all other new flavors are gross.  I'm especially looking at you birthday cake flavor.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up Cookie Dough Oreos at my local store. The filling was made to look like chocolate chip cookie dough and I think it said they used Ghirardelli chocolate flakes for the "chips". They were better than I expected - had a bit of a mocha or coffee flavor to them, maybe due to trying to replicate the flavor of the vanilla and brown sugar from the cookie dough?

Caramel apple Oreos sound goddam disgusting.

Why do we gotta fark with regular Oreos? Aren't those good enough?

I buy boxes of them each winter and them hoard them all summer.

And to the hydrox guy, you seem confused. Oreo, being a brand name is by its nature not hydrox.

I don't get 'cookie dough' flavors and products.  Baked cookies are awesome; raw dough is a clunky mix of unincorporated ingredients.  I could see the appeal for kids who just like eating sugar without having to wait out the bake time.  And chicks who are like children when it comes to willpower.

I bought a pack of those on the way to a friends house. We ate a few between him, his wife and I. A week later I visited again and the oreos were all gone. Friend says "yeah, we finished those. And then the two extra boxes the wife picked up right after." They're both skinny as twigs so, meh. That shiat is goooood.

The filling on regular Oreos have been reduced to a thin line. Even 'Double Stuff' wouldn't add up to a full-sized one. Gimme my Oreos back!

Believe it or not, the starting point is normal wheat flour.

I can't make them last that long. I usually go through at least 20 boxes in the short time they're on the shelf.

Hydrox were the original. Oreos are cheap knockoffs.

That's my problem,  I'll go through a box or two and hoard the rest. So I end up with them on the shelf the whole time and won't open them until it's almost time for them to be back in stores because I know if I do open them they'll be gone...

Before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I used to down plenty of Faygo Caramel Apple Soda. It tastes almost exactly like the real thing, and it's like liquid crack. The Juggalo effect, I suspect.

I used to swear by the Double Stuff Oreos.  Then they brought out the Golden Oreos and in time, Double Stuff Golden.  There is a lemon creme golden Oreo that I would push a busload of nuns and orphans down a mountain ravine to obtain.  They apparently are made in limited quantities at sporadic intervals.

I'm currently working off the 15 pounds I've put on in the last year plus.  Not enough physical activity and too many cookies.  I haven't had any since the beginning of July in spite of there being open packages in the house.  By the time I do try one, they will be horribly stale and I will go a while longer before I buy replacements.  I need to keep my level of activity up in order to eat like I used to eat (and not gain weight.)  I have become lazy in my dotage, and it is due in large part to the side effects of the pharmaceutical eye meds I've been taking.  I have to stop giving in to being too tired to get exercise.

Once its a dough, the ingredients are pretty well incorporated, it just simply hasn't been cooked.  If you don't eat that last bit of the dough from the bowl or mixer when making cookies you're missing out; it's a guilty pleasure.  Don't eat the store bought tube stuff though, it just doesn't taste right.
Cookie dough "flavored" things are really hit or miss; I tried the Oreo's purely as a curiousity.  Something that has actual cookie dough in it, like ice cream, is much better.

/sure, for homemade dough there's a very, very low chance of salmonella from the raw eggs, but its worth the risk.

Anybody else tired of The Incredible Shrinking Package Syndrome?  I mean, come on.  Oreos, Chips Ahoy, Hydrox et al are supposed to come in 1 lb boxes.  What's with this 12.2 oz and 10.5 oz shiat?

I totally disagree.  The ingredients are mixed together but haven't melted into a cohesive thing. Raw dough tastes like sugar, butter, vanilla, raw eggs, salt, and flour.
