I'm slightly confused.  The angered other patrons didn't realize he had kids in the car until he tried to leave?

Diogenes: I'm slightly confused.  The angered other patrons didn't realize he had kids in the car until he tried to leave?

They figured it out and dragged him out and beat him. Then the bouncer saw him try and drive off, he tried to talk him down, and then another angry patron beat him. I'm more confused why the bouncer didn't get a couple free punches in. The mugshot is interesting as well... like when they make an iPhone video normal width and have the blurry closeup of the sides so you don't have to stare at black bars.

I'm also glad you can beat people for this kind of stuff. There are a bunch of internet tough guys who would have done this had they not been bedridden.

Hey, no reason beatdowns of deadbeats can't be artsy!

He deserved the beatdown and more for what he did. We need a chemical castration law.

Although, this being Florida, the story about the mom dropping the kids off wouldn't be exactly incredible, except for the fact that the kids said he left them in there.

This just happened recently.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was the mom.

Maybe they should start a home delivery service for booze.  Seems it's causing a real rash of kids locked in hot cars.

he should have called a taxi & left the kids there until he was sober enough to pick them up & drive them home.

He certainly deserved it, but I hope the kids didn't see any of it.

Ocala has its own special kind of crazy.
And stupid.

Depends on the kids, some of'em would've been able to handle it.

^^^So much this.

Just drove through Ocala on my vacation to Savannah last month. The only billboards I saw were for AIDS testing and abortion help i.e. don't leave the child in a dumpster, call us first.

Maybe we should lower the driving age, so the kids could just drive home.

At least we lived in walking distance. Mom would just send us down to walk him home. We would even get a free soda from the bartender.

Or lower the drinking age, so the kids don't have to wait in the car.

I know the poster above was being snarky (is that allowed here anymore?) talking about chemical castration, but seriously, SO many of you people are SO bad at this parenting thing, I really do wonder why a law or 2 can't be passed governing reproduction. Rule 1- if you buy your groceries with a WIC card, DONT HAVE FARKING CHILDREN!!!!

Why is this so hard to figure out?

Oh right- because people.

a good father would do his drinking in the car with the kids.

Most liquor stores in Colorado deliver. Just call around and find out. I can name 3 of them within a 5 mile radius of my home. Only thing is they have a minimum amount.

Will they also take the kids out for 4 hours?

I spent many, many hours with my brother sitting in my father's Ranchero while he was inside a bar called The Horns of the Hunter when I was seven and eight. Sometimes we would get lucky, and he'd give us a some change to buy a soda and some beef jerky or something at the liquor store next door. Most of the the time we just sat and waited. My father never drove anywhere without a beer in his lap; when he still had his pilot's license, and would fly us somewhere in a borrowed plane, he drank beer doing that as well. I was pretty surprised when I got older, and found out you weren't supposed to do any of these things.

Ow! That was my feelings!: At least he didn't drag the kids into the bar like some hero parents do. Ugh.

Is it wrong to take a kid to a bar under any circumstances? My daughter is 2, and my wife's family owns a sports bar. We have taken her there several times for Packers games, Brewers games, and most recently a cousin's birthday party.

The latest we have been there with her is 9pm, and while I will have a drink or two, my wife doesn't.

//To be fair though, my mom practically raised me and my sister in bars. If she wasn't working at the bar we were at, she was closing it down. Did I mention she is an alcoholic?

I agree with you on parenting licensing, but the sad truth is there are not enough enforcers to hang out in every stupid breeders bedrooms, so it would never work.

How is this racist? Is the race card the main thing to play whenever you disagree with someone? I agree with his statement because I see so many people who should never have had kids popping them out.

Wisconsin? *checks profile* Ha!

I've had many a discussion with Wisconsinites about the appropriateness of having kids in a bar. Sports bars are a gray area. Basically, if it is a bar that doesn't serve food, I have an issue with kids being in there. But I do understand the 'community gathering place' pov.

//Also spent a lot of my childhood in bars.
