Going to my first Nats game tomorrow. Bonus: Paid for by my work, plus a $15 voucher for food/drinks/merchandise. Should be enough for one drink and a popcorn....maybe.

Not bad for a team who had a commercial in their 1st or 2nd year that extolled one of their players for
getting walked.

I'm not even a Nats fan, and I think they're pretty exciting. A 72 and 53 season isn't too shabby at all.

Maybe next year.

My heart can't take many more walk-off games. A 9 game streak is pretty nice, though we've been playing the Mets, Pirates, and D-Backs. It's not like we're sweeping the Cardinals and Brewers.

Overall, of their remaining 37 games, they play 20 against the Mets, Marlins and Phillies. You have to like that schedule.

The Nats have been fun to watch, since they've been unassing themselves from a few blown saves recently.  It's going to be closer-by-committee until Soriano gets his shiat together.

WHERE WERE YOU WHEN JOHN LANNAN PITCHED A 7 INNING MASTERPIECE THAT ENDED IN A 4-3 WIN IN EXTRA INNINGS AGAINST THE METS.

Still the worst ad campaign I've ever seen.

They should close out the division. The Braves went full Barves again last night. I'd like to see the Braves eek out the wild card, then maybe knock the Nats out of the playoffs.

Yeah?  But what's their record in the last three months at night against teams from west of the Mississippi who are starting a pitcher born before the start of the Reagan Administration?

As a Braves fan, I find the notion of advancing out of the playoffs to be quaint, a throwback to the 1990's. Then again, they have owned the Nats the past two years. I guess something has to give.

Advancing out of the first round of the playoffs, I mean. The Braves have done plenty of advancing right out of the playoffs in recent years.

Heh.  Starting September 18th, the end of their season is: 4 games at Miami, 3 home games vs. the Mets, then 4 home games vs. the Marlins.

Of course, at the same time, the Braves have: 3 home games vs. the Mets, 4 home games vs. the Pirates, then 3 games at Philly.  That's not much harder, especially since the Marlins aren't horrible.  Somehow.

(The Marlins are playing .500 baseball with a lineup that could be described as "Jean-Ralphio Stanton and 8 guys we signed in the CostCo parking lot.", and a Jose-Fernandez-less pitching staff anchored by... I don't know, Tom Koehler?  Either their management and scouting team is amazing, or baseball is easier than we make it out to be.)

Meh, Twins' 15 in a row was better. Worst to first, World Series and all that.

Maybe, but 9 straight is hardly the best or most exciting.  That was my point.

Yup.  Plus a bonus point for it being a walkoff error, just for creativity.  Some nice leadoff work from Denard lately.

The better news for the Nats was that they got a 7 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 6 K start from Gio Gonzalez, who hasn't been all that sharp this year.

Hey look!  More evidence of the east coast bias.  The Nats are the most exciting team in baseball if you've never watched anything west of the Mississippi.  Ever see an A's game?
