Nicely done, submitter.

I'm disappointed that he didn't work in the phrase "mission accomplished." Maybe have a small sticker on the wall behind him or something. He could have even done it as one of his paintings. Come, George, you're at the point in your post-presidential life where you get to start having some fun. Entertain me.

I liked the video. Chuckled at the Bill Clinton thing. I hope if Bill does it its at Senor Frog's during a more general wet t-shirt contest. If anyone would do that, it would be Bill.

Subtle but uber-snarky.  Nice job, subby!  This is a sleeper candidate for politics HOTY.  :)

Funny, although his delivery was kind of stiff. I'd like to see Bill accept it. He seems like he'd have a good time with it.

We need to let Sean Hannity know this is no replacement for the water boarding he promised to do over 5 years ago.

Figures the one time Dubya does anything for charity, it involves someone else making the effort and him just standing there like an idiot as it's done.

Then again, he knows no other way to stand.

As awful as he was at his job, I always felt that Dubya was the funniest President in my lifetime. I'm saying this as someone who writes comedy sketches and is a liberal. His sense of physical improvization was peerless.

I found this to be genuinely funny.

Yes, he was a godawful President who burned the crops, salted the fields, & blamed poor people for their lack of gumption.

I'd snark, but it's for charity.

If Bill Clinton had taken more cold bucket showers while he was presidenting, he probably wouldn't have been impeached.

Perhaps because his successor has not only seen the wisdom inherent in his actions, but has found it prudent to double-down on them, thereby nullifying the loud, hypocritical protestations of his electoral supporters.

It's still not too late to get Dick Cheney to sign on and substute a waterboarding at the last minute. Let's see if his new 13-year-old Iraqi heart can take it.

You are correct; by making a donation, President Obama fulfilled the terms of the challenge.

The true question is whether two other famous individuals called upon will accept the challenge.

2014-08-20 04:28:51 PM
I'm starting a new fund raising challenge. I shall call it the tepid water challenge. To complete the challenge you must first, fall asleep, second have a trusted friend place your hand in a bucket of tepid water, third donate $10 directly to me. If you do not wish to do the challenge, you can still fulfill your obligation by mailing me $100. All funds collected will benefit the gullible and those that easily succumb to peer pressure.

He refused to do the bucket of ice. He wrote a check.

People generally don't do one or the other, they do both.

According to the terms, those challenged may either opt to accept a dumping of an ice bucket and to donate $10 or decline a dumping of an ice bucket and to donate $100. While the President's choice was not the most popular option, it is a valid response to the challenge.

This whole Ice Water Challenge silliness has inspired me to donate...to The Water Project. It's clear to me that we take our potable water for granted in this country. I figured I'd do a tiny bit to make life easier for someone who doesn't have even that small luxury.

Hey, if Obama had done it, the same people would be pissed that he was goofing off instead of "doing his job."

It's just a given that some people are going to hate him no matter what he does.

How dense does one have to be to still think that President Bush had something to do with that banner? The ship put it up because the air war had ended....they accomplished their mission.

Nice one. A conservative may actually think that. So just in case... Air war implies fighting other things in the air. And air war ending implies that no planes were used after. Also no one ever thought Bush personally asked for the banner, only his minions.

Don'y worry, Sofie had an alternate script ready in case Obama actually did the ice water bucket dump thing instead of the donation thing that involved Obama "destroying the dignity of the office with a cheap desperate political stunt".

He's actually just a little pissed he didn't get to use it cos he worked on it all night long and everything.

yes, yes, social media is confusing an scary...

As of Tuesday, August 19, The ALS Association has received $22.9 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 19). These donations have come from existing donors and 453,210 new donors to The Association.

Heh.  Amusing that some humans might still believe that is the story.  The White House was behind the banner.  It was one of the hugest clusterfarks of a presidency filled with clusterfarks.  But feel free to wander your own way through a not quite connected universe.

I know that it started out with an either or situation, but I seriously doubt that people are just dumping ice.
