Meh, wrote my first game when I as a year younger but my dad wasn't famous (or even a programmer) and the Internet sucked (it had only been on TCP/IP for a few months). I still have the game on tape someplace (no idea if it is readable but I have the tape) it was a Galaga clone.

eikni: Pong Kombat?

Yes! I do remember Pong Kombat. Though to be honest I don't think I ever found a single fatality. Maybe one of these days I'll track down a copy and see if there's a list of the combos online somewhere.

As for newer Pongs, I have to mention Plasma Pong as well. It's nice. Very very colourful and you'll never see a Pong variant anywhere with such steep system requirements. Sadly the author has taken it down due to Atari's ownership of the Pong trademark. I imagine there may have been a cease and desist order involved. Still, if you're after a copy there's bound to be one somewhere. It's freeware and is listed on the various major download sites, but as many of them simply hotlink the file instead of hosting it on their own server it may take a few attempts, particularly if you're after the OSX port.

Also there's Curveball, which I will mention on Fark ever chance I get. It's 3D Pong in Flash and it is ace. Perfect controls. Pleasing sounds. Beautiful difficulty curve. Addictive in the extreme.

Go when you have half an hour or so on your hands. Use a proper mouse, as it's maddening to try to play with a touchpad.

The android version I run is free.  Takes forever to load, though.

Yeah, no. Sorry.

On the one hand:  the game is cute, and the kid is a far better programmer at 1/5th my age than I'll ever be.

OTOH:  You'd think his father would have taught him Javascript so you wouldn't have to install a seperate
player.
