Apparently it's contagious.  And one of the symptoms is delusion.

Have any studies been completed on whether this presents any threats of contagion? Perhaps we need to be implementing some isolation protocols, something like what they're doing for Ebola.

I think these isolated cases require a full medical examination. I propose we perform a full autopsy on this gentleman and his spawn to determine the contagion factors. For science, of course.

I wouldn't suspect it of being contagious. Genetic diseases rarely are.

Think about it, won't you?

New money isn't old money.

Old money would have gotten away with this. New money, particularly not enough new money, couldn't.

When are we going to stop with this affluenza BS and call a douche a douche. I think this family would be a-holes if the made 30K a year and lived in Fresno.

At the trial, a psychologist testified that he was a product of "affluenza," where his family felt that wealth bought privilege and there was no rational link between behavior and consequences.

No, that's called psychopathy.

You say you spend every winter in Firenza
You don't mind to catch a dose of affluenza
You live your life like a canary in a douche-mine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line

You know what I would do if I had affluenza?  Two chicks at the same time, man.  Cause chicks dig a dude with money.

Our policymakers are doing everything they can to contain the disease. By 2030, it should only affect one in every 100,000 people with the last name Walton or Koch.

AND IT F*CKING WORKED!!

His son, Ethan Couch, was sentenced to 10 years of probation for a drunken-driving crash that killed four people and injured nine others.

Also, the photo of the a-hole father in the article looks more like the middle-aged, sunburned stoner who cleans my pool than a guy rich enough to successfully claim that he's too wealthy to understand reality.

Impersonating a police officer?  How utterly déclassé; how absolutely blue collar.  Please notify the Affluenza and Whist Club that the Couchs are hereby banned from all further Tuesday teas and weekly mixers at the country club.

Actually, I was thinking of him in that video to the right of the journo about to lose his head as being a fit punishment.

Is it truly delusion when they literally can get away with killing people and get special treatment?

Man this familys lawyer$ must be rolling in it with rap sheets like that. Too bad they dont have a family jail where they can all rot together. I guess the only cure for these people is death or poverty.  I am suprised with what I have heard about this family that they managed to keep their money for as long as they have.

2014-08-20 10:54:07 AM
this guy had a rap sheet going back to the 80's, how come he was never apprehended beforehand? maybe if he was apprehended he wouldnt have fathered a child that went on to kill 4 people recklessly.

Sentence him to act as a Ferguson police officer with no backup.

If he has a rap sheet going back to the '80s, he in fact was apprehended beforehand.

The mystery is why he was not quarantined in a laboratory, hosed down, and sterilized beforehand.

If only it were as deadly.

Affluenza is the only thing that I think is worthy of the death penalty, and it needs to go back 2 generations to prevent the illness from spreading. So Jr should at least be doing serious time, and Dad and Granddad should be right next to him. It is their fault he turned out the way he did, so they need to share in the punishment.

Pocket Ninja: "something like what they're doing for Ebola."

I can see it now: a mob of olds -- a sea of navy blazers, ascots and boat shoes -- having over-run a makeshift containment center in a mere *middle-class* shopping center, to rescue their country club friends from persecution and "deplorable" conditions.

"No Affluenza In The Van Dough Estates!"
