I get robbing people, but stopping to do non-robbing activities during said robbery? I always wondered what moves people to make so such objectively incredibly stupid decisions.

According to a criminal complaint, Chavez held Glen Miller at gunpoint while Chavez showered...

Awkward!

If you're broke, homeless, and have resorted to breaking into homes for drug money, I can see how stopping to eat, shower, and nap could be appealing to someone who hasn't done any of those things for a bit; especially after the initial nervousness wears off, and you start thinking "I haven't gotten caught yet, therefore I will not get caught. May as well have a sandwich, these suburban folks sure know how to stock a pantry."

Hell, maybe a meal, a shower, and a clean bed is what they were really after, and now they get it both ways in jail.

Adter reading tfa he does seen like the kind of person who simply doesn't care. Either he gets what he wants by robbing because he can't get a job or he gets send back to jail where he doesn't have to worry about a job.
