I love how they blur out the victim in the video.  I'm assuming that they did so because the victim was black, and more outrage would be generated in the Fox base viewership if they think that the park ranger isn't.

As evidenced by the comments, most of them are assuming that the ranger was white.

Thank goodness Jesus showed up.

I love the laughing punk with the video camera.

Say, where are all the people decrying the militarization of LEOs? I guess a few stomped out rangers are the price we have to pay for teens getting their rocks off filming the beatings.

But that's right. It's just three innocent teens. That ranger didn't need a gun or backup or anything.

Buh?  You'd have preferred the ranger have been able to shoot the punks or something?

I kinda prefer the whole rule of law thing we got going, you know, taking people who break the law to court after they break the law.

You're right. All Park Rangers should carry semi-autos and flash grenades, body armor, riot shields, and drive around in an APC. There is no middle ground. You're a friggin genius.

What we NEED is to severely punish assholes like this, like say, five years in a Forced Labor Camp, in order to deter others from pulling the same crap. Instead, we hardly punish behavior like this, express wonderment when this behavior becomes more common, and react by giving the police MORE power and MORE weaponry, which turns us increasingly into a police state.

I'd like to go about my daily business, un-harrassed by po-po searching me, interrogating me, etc. trying to "prevent" crime. As long as I'm not committing any crime, I should be left alone.

If someone commits a crime, crucify 'em. Make an example of them to others, and leave my rights in peace.

All I'm saying is after all the Ferguson threads filled with people wanting the cops to get rid of all their "military" equipment, it comes down to a park ranger being stomped out because, most likely, he wasn't carrying a sidearm. And because three typical good-natured Americans turned out not to have any respect for a law enforcement officer and wanted to beat the shiat out of them because he, again apparently, had no sidearm and no backup.

Now I'm leaving the thread because I don't want to threadshiat.

Philadelphia Park Ranger. What does that even mean? Does he help out lost hikers and give lectures about the flora and fauna? Do they wear goofycool hats? Can he do bird calls? I like bird calls. "oy, love...fancy a shag?"

Park rangers are not strictly police. They are interpreters and teachers, and sometimes curators, who wear uniforms and have limited law enforcement responsibilities.

Park rangers are law enforcement officers for parks which fall outside the typical city/county kind of jurisdictions. They have the same powers and responsibilities as any other LEO.

Nice to see Black, White and Asian kids all working together for a common goal. Racial harmony - I love it. The most heartwarming part in the whole video is when the well-groomed white kid handed the ranger's hat back to him.

CBS did the same thing too with the victim as well as bystanders. Also NBC. They don't like lawsuits and they probably didn't want to embarrass the victim any further. So I think jjorsett was spot on.

http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Skateboarder-Attacks-Park- Ra nger-271558881.html Nope

With CBS they didn't blur out the entire body of the park ranger, just his face.  They didn't obscure like Fox did.

Hell, Fox didn't even show the victim in ANY of their stills.  You people don't think that was not intentional and meant to provoke reactions from their viewership?

It said the videoer was felt he was out matched, since it would/could have been 4 on 2 and his fighting partner was already knocked to the ground. He did what he could videoed the assault so it could be used as evidence then took the guy for medical attention. Easy to judge after the fact and not being there.

Thank goodness Jesus showed up.

just like years ago when the California Secretary of Education visited some school and made fun of some girls name.  Al Sharpton and the ACLU were getting ready to board a plane to California when they found out that the girl was white.

in 2008, it was okay to wear a shirt (especially if you are black) that said, "i'm voting for the black guy."   but it would have been racist for a white person to wear a shirt that says, "I'm voting for the white guy."

I did learn on fark that if I disagree with the president, I am racist.

You do realize that the ALCU has defended both the KKK and the Black Panthers right?  They defend equality regardless.

Nobody but racists takes Al Sharpton seriously any longer, from either side.  The rest of us just disregard him and his opinions.

It was never "OK" to wear a shirt saying that you were going to vote due to the candidates race.

What the fark does that have to do with Fox's continuous racist editorial process?  Oh yeah, I forgot, somebody else did it so it's OK for others to do it.

The difference in the disagreement with the President, which I notice you didn't capitalize, is that this President has been disagreed with more than ANY President in history, and for the most part, from one political party whose membership is primarily of a single race and religion.
