Well, they appear to have abandonded the high concept episodes that opened the last season.  That can only be a good thing.

"Listen" sounds cool.  It should be something on par with Blink or the introduction of the Silence.

Eccelston has been my favorite (NuWho) Doctor so far and, from what I've read, Capaldi is supposed to be a cranky, no-nonsense Doctor as well. I'm looking forward to this season :)

12 episodes only goes to the 2nd week of november. Clara's departure appears to be somewhere around ep 8. So there will most certainly be a break.

Tennant definitely had his moments ("wrath of a Time Lord" and all that) but I was still more partial to CE. Matt Smith, OTOH...meh, he fell kinda flat for me.

So it looks like he's going back to Victorian England in the season opener. Hasn't he been spending a lot of time there recently? I'm surprised he's not tripping over various incarnation of himself.

Agreed. It's a fun show. I think his best line so far was the one he delivered to the king's mother: "Don't pretend we both don't know what big teeth you have, grandma"

My ten-year old son is getting into the Dr--something I never have had any interest in.  He made me watch "blink".  I thought, "Wow, that was kind of entertaining in a 'Memento' sort of way", and thought I should spend more time with him watching the Dr., to see if there was something to all this.

However, after a few more episodes, I just can't figure out what it is about this show that sustains the interest.  And I really believe there must be something--It's got too dedicated a fan base to have nothing to offer.

So, please tell me--what do I have to do to understand why people like this series?

Yeah, Tennant didn't get interesting to me until Waters Of Mars, and then RTD quickly pissed that away with his stupid Master-cloning finale. I genuinely liked Smith, but not as much as Eccleston. On the other hand, half of Eccleston's episodes were awful... three full episodes of farting rubber suits.

I'd still put all three regular new-series doctors beneath the New Eighth Doctor Adventures... and those are designed to be very much nuWho in length and story content. In any case, I'm very much looking forward to Capaldi.

I'm working up to CH, NiS, and CW. I'm on the Snowmen right now, just started. I've been watching Doctor Who for the past 6 weeks, watching all 800 episodes (and that includes the McGann film) in preparation for Saturday.

I enjoyed 90% of Asylum of the Daleks, but the whole Rory/Amy divorce drama still pisses me off so damn much. It kinda conflicts with the episode I just finished watching, The Angels Take Manhattan. Moffat's previous seasons definitely hold up better than the RTD stuff. As bad as farting alien were, Eccleston and the Donna season are the only seasons I like now.

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship is still ridiculously fun, and it's my favourite of last season.

I'm pretty sure she's not leaving until the Christmas special, after the whole season.  The episode 8 synopsis has her planning on leaving.  Then she's in episode 9.  Obviously she changed her mind about leaving, at least for the moment.

I think its out of the blue (yes I did watch Pond Life), and as as annoying and dense as Amy can be from time to time, she can't possibly be that stupid to think Rory would just ditch her because she's infertile, without, y'know, talking to him? Also, couldn't they have just gone to the Doctor to see if he could fix things, because he has a big blue box that travels through time and space? It just seemed so hamfisted and fake. Also, in the unfilmed short, they ended up adopting a son, so I'm pretty sure Rory would have been more than happy to adopt. He protected her as a plastic man for nearly 2000 years, a little think like a busted uterus isn't gonna destroy the love he has for her.

I was generally fine with Season 7. Only really three stories (Rings of Akhaten, Journey to the Center of the Tardis, and NiS) that I felt let down by. Rings and Nightmare started out promising, but didn't go anywhere. And Journey just felt like a colossal waste of time.

Will have to find it then, it's not available at my usual sources.  Interestingly enough, seeing it in monochrome adds to it rather than detracts.  At least with the first two eps anyway.

Apparently Scripts for the series leaked and the workprints for the first 6 episodes were on the same server. Only 3 of the workprints have leaked online so far, but they all have a watermark of that guy's name.
