Haven't been paying too much attention to the Manziel thing, but as I gather: overhyped frat douche got famous styling on FBS-tier hacks in college and is now in the early stages of a discovering that shiat don't work in the pros?

Any signs this flameout will be particularly dramatic or meltdown-y, or will he just wind up benched and spend the rest of his career as a backup?

Yeah, kids can be dumb sometimes. Better to get it out of his system now.

I'm willing to guess he will be passed around the league like a $2 whore with each team trying to incorporate him into some kind option/pistol offense eventually he will fad away like Jawalrus Russell.

/Why so mad Johnny boy??

Johnny doesn't bug me, it's ESPN that gets on my last nerve.  They pick a personality, like Tebow, and then focus 60% of their ENTIRE coverage on that one guy.  They have nothing useful to say, so they pump up "stars" instead.

The Steelers, Ravens and Bengals are loving getting two shots at this guy. The Washington 4skins got that far under his skin in a freakin' pre-season game?

MaudlinMutantMollusk: The anti-Tebow

During peak college-era Tebowmania, I prayed to the gods of college football to send a QB who wouldn't name-drop God in his postgame interviews. Someone who, during the offseason, did regular college kid stuff, like not circumcising kids in the Philippines. I prayed for the anti-Tebow. fark you, college football gods. fark you right in the ear.

I guess now I have to resort to making sure Manziel gets on the cover of Madden 16. That should do the trick.

Manziel's bird to the Washington bench is expected to draw an $11,025 fine

Just to keep it going he should send an $11,000 check and 2500 pennies.

He's got some athletic talent, but I don't think it's sufficient to translate to success in the NFL. His only real problem is being a little too much like Namath, and enjoying being the center of attention. That feeds into BSPN's hype machine perfectly.

No autograph-signing gigs because he's difficult to work with and everybody hates him.
No announcer/analyst gigs because he  can't be taught, he's difficult to work with and everybody hates him.
No fallback career because he squandered his college education, can't be taught, he's difficult to work with and everybody hates him.

Yeah I was watching the game and when Kerrigan got the sack, I saw Orakpo do the 'manziel money hand sign' thing and I thought I saw Kerrigan do it too but didn't think he did.  Then I read an ESPN article that had this in it:

"I tried to get Ryan to do it with me," Orakpo said.
Said Kerrigan: "I thought about it, but that's not cool. That's not me. It would have been out of character. We talked about it before, but I chickened out."

My respect for Kerrigan went up a bit there.  http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11374017/brian-orakpo-washington-re d skins-calls-middle-finger-salute-hilarious

Since there wasn't a thread for the game last night, my thoughts:

*  Why was RG3 in the game after everyone saw him hobbling around?
*  Our offensive power is great against bad teams like New England but when up against a real D, our o-line goes back to the turnstile that was last year. :(   (small troll face)
*  Really, REALLY, hope that during the regular season that if the Redskins ever got down to the 1 or 2 yard line that we would do something other than 4 straight running plays!  Come on man, felt like Kyle Shanahan was calling the plays again.  No, that's not true, Kyle would have called for some weird flea flicker screen that lost 10 yards...
*  The defense looked good at times and horrible at others...just like last year; a few running plays from Ben Tate and it seemed like he was unstoppable.

Christ, he's played enough games to know that you don't let the other team know they got to you.  Heck, I learned not to react to what the other team was saying in junior high.

Actually he isn't rich as fark to begin with. His family had a lot of money, but most was lost to bad business deals, lawsuits and most of them blowing it. His parents are apparently well off, but not rich as fark. This guy doesn't have a inheritance that is so big that he can just say fark it.

I saw that, too.  Last year, I thought it was just because of Shanahan.  This year, I'm wondering if it could be a) Dan Snyder has told the coach to keep his star on the field no matter what, or b) the coaches think RGIII may be trying to get off the field sooner.

According to the announcers due to the newer structure of training camp the teams don't get to practice goalline stands as much as in the past. I'd image that was one of the reasons for the 4 straight up the middle runs.

I'm also guessing no reason to show too much of one's hand in preseason.
