Barfmaker: The field in back of my house used to be magical with all the fireflies, but yeah in the last few years it's dwindled to just a few.
croesius: I've seen a whole city of tiny lights. Maybe you should know that it's over there, in the tiny dirt somewhere.Don't you wanna go?

alternative girlfriend: I haven't seen any this summer. It's sad. :(
Morchella: We had a really good firefly year here in northernish Indiana. It was good to see all of them after several years of barely any.
shanrick: And soon . . .Tiny lights go out as human populations dwindle/please give generously
moeburn: Growing up in the 90's, I never understood all the references to fireflies on TV and in cartoons. In my entire 25 years of living, I have encountered fireflies a total of once. And that's not to say I don't go outdoors - I live in Toronto, but I regularly camp all across southern Ontario, and I've also camped in every state from Michigan to California to Washington and between.
northguineahills: I see an occasional few here and there in Brooklyn, but never any in Manhattan. That said, when going to rural upstate, or WV or VA, i see less then I remember 15 years ago, but it could a biased memory.
hlehmann: Growing up in western PA, I remember seeing fireflys by the thousands on most summer evenings. We used catch them and keep them in a jar as a night light.Moved west when I grew up, can't say I've seen a single one in over 35 years.
