I've got bacon, broccoli and a whole lotta eggs...maybe I should make a quiche.  Plus, I've got some delicious cheeses on hand.

I'd definitely make a crust, though.  I've got a simple recipe that's just flour, butter and ice water.

Real men don't eat quiche.

Jokes aside, it's 9:09PM Sunday evening where I am.  For dinner I had a bowl of udon with a boiled egg and peppermint chocolate ice cream for dessert.

It's funny. There are two things that I like most about this stuff besides the flavors

One, I don't have half the things in the recipe on hand

Butter for greasing loaf pans or coffee cans
1/2 cup (heaping) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (heaping) rye flour
1/2 cup (heaping) finely ground corn meal (must be finely ground)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup molasses (any kind)
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Two, anytime I want this stuff (sliced then warmed in the microwave) it's only a couple of minutes away from my plate. With a shelf life of years!  Yayyyyy!!!!

So I have to agree with you. It's an abomination. A very tasty, convenient, intricate abomination. And that's the best kind of abomination!

http://www.amazon.com/Brown-Bread-Original-Ounce-Cans/dp/B0025UCI94

This is sold and shipped by Amazon.com itself. I wouldn't buy any grocery items on Amazon except those sold by Amazon.

12 cans for $36. or if you subscribe and save 12 for $34.

Not too cheap but it lasts for years. Yeah, right.

My mother used to always have this out at our Christmas morning breakfast feast. It reminds me of Santa and the smell of scotch-tape and warm and cozy winter mornings

I've got some fresh, ripe peaches from a local orchard. Was thinking of dicing them up and mixing them in a buttermilk pancake batter. I'm assuming that should still taste pretty good with maple syrup....or should I try something different to top it so it sweetens it up?

We used to have that as a kid, I have not seen it on the shelves any more-not that I looked. I've made brown bread from scratch. Not exactly easy, but not hard either. And much better tasting. Cooking in the can is not really good, as you will also be eating tin.

I'll probably have some pancakes later. With trader joe's bacon, real maple syrup and a fruit salad.
