Wow, that was pretentious. I wonder if the neckbeard who wrote that bothers to write that wearing his lensless hipster glasses when he's alone.

There was a Sonic in my area and it closed overnight.  No warning.  Was there one day, the next day it was not only closed, but the sign was gone, the store was empty, and the drive in boxes all removed.  All overnight.

I'm not curious about the existence of God, ghosts or an afterlife, but it's killing me to know what happened there to that Sonic!

i feel dumber for reading that.

See, you're all measuring stupidity against the guy who wrote it, whereas I feel pretty stupid for bothering to read it.

The question is "What's wrong with the Poms?" The New Statesman is a British publication.

Sonic is easily the most overrated fast food chain in existence. Most of their food barely rises above the level of "meh", yet I know so many people who don't live near one who act like it's the best thing ever. I really don't get it.

Get a grip and chill, y'all.  Sonic uses real ice cream in the malts.

DRTFA but I GIS'ed the author.  His face is mucho punchable, and it looks a few people have punched it.

It's all about the Bacon Egg and Cheese Toaster . Loads of crispy bacon on that sandwich , but yeah , everything else about Sonic isn't that great . I had the Chicken Club sandwich the other day and it was Farking awful .....

Man always wants that which he does not have.  (Then again, for me at least, that logic will never apply to a Chick-fil-A if they ever make it out of malls in New England and into free-standing stores.)

the milkshakes are awesome.  slushies too.

The frito pie  - great

tater tots- only if hot and crispy out of the fryer

The shakes are great at Sonic.  The food sucks.

I always love throwing the fries out of the car window and watching the seagulls kill each other over them.

And if you think I'm taking a cheap shot at Sonic"

It's true though. Sonic is the most American fast food chain in existence. Their whole thing is nostalgia.

From author's wiki:

He was an emotionally confused and self-destructive child, harming himself with cigarette ends and knives before getting into drugs.

He has described himself as a psychogeographer and modern flâneur and has written about walks he has taken.

...collects and repairs vintage typewriters and smokes a pipe.

So, basically, he some sort of uber-hipster.

We got a new one. Never went to one before, so I just got the Chicken Platter (whatever they call it) to-go. It was okay, but not really worth what I got.

Sonic's tex-mex breakfast burrito thingy is tits; the rest of their menu is decidedly bland and unappetizing.

I was sooo excited when the one opened near me a few years back. That shine wore off after the first visit.

Do you mean that when I lived in the South, those cute teenage girls delivering the food at Sonic were also prostitutes?  DAMN my failure to read social cues!  GODDAMMIT!

I honestly have been told by people who have gone to an In-n-Out that I'm not allowed to go to it if I value my health.

I made the mistake of going to Sonic a few weeks ago.

I ordered a regular burger, and as I pulled away, unwrapped it to realize they put mayo on their standard burger.

Out the window it went.

Had a similar problem at Checkers yesterday. Freeway, say hello to Top Bun!

The cherry limeades are good, so are the slushs and malts, the fries and tots are ok, same with the burgers

Mostly just stop to grab a large drink when on a car trip

Discovery of the Will Self deposit increased the world's known, recoverable pretentiousness reserves by 9.3%.  Smug futures were down 1.1% on the news.

I'm studying pretentious writing and how to do it in my writing class, so I am disappoint. I found myself staring at the ads on the side.

Considering how bad the food is at the old high school hangout that used to have waitress bring you food in your car, there's probably no Sonic food that could ever be worse. Of course there never was three circles of cars driving around a Sonic back in the day, either.

manifest destiny is bullshiat, also

2014-08-17 10:56:22 AM
Y'all need to stop trying to throw a "spanner in the works," the tots and especially the cherry-limeades are the "dog's bollocks"; and bob's your uncle.

2014-08-17 10:57:03 AM
Sonic franchises vary IMMENSELY from location to location.  One could be some of the (if not THE) best fast food you've had in your life.  The one across town could take 3 hours and suck.

/You ever seen a hairy tater-tot?
