Agreed. But there are more deserving players to be crapped on. Some of whom are his teammates.

Some names are gender neutral, like Terry, Vivian, or Tori.
Ashley is not one of them.

Based on the Wikipedia celebrity list, it seems it was almost entirely a surname until the 60s when it was mainly guys but quickly got picked up by the girls in the late 70s.

It was way back when...I know this from an Encyclopedia Brown case where the perp claimed not to know a dentist named Vivian but said, "I've never met him in my life". OOOH BUSTED

Not hard to grow from nothing to something but it will always be a fringe sport in the states.

Well, Torii (with two I's) makes you a 9 time consecutive gold glove winner, which makes no sense to my argument, but there you go.

Yeah, I got nothing against soccer (used to play it way back), but "fastest growing" is a long long ways away from "popular sport" in America.

Given that you're commenting in a thread about a man called Ashley, you've just disproved your own point. Well done.

Besides, names switch sex all the time, and can be unisex at the same time. I mean, Tracy is generally a male name in the US; I've never met a male Tracy in the UK. Shannon is unisex. And Bernadette can be abbrev. to Bernie.

And, of course, Hilary.
