Wow, someone came to the conclusion  out that a karaoke show with some condescending British prick isn't not only good television but isn't a theme park attraction?

Why were they supporting a FOX show in the first place?

12349876: Why were they supporting a FOX show in the first place?

That's an interesting question.....unless Simon Cowell is planning to move "American Idol" to
ABC, which would then stand for "Annoying, Boring, Crappy".  (For the record, by that token
the other networks are "Crappy Boring Stupid" and "Nutty Boring Crappy" and maybe Fox should
be called Weasel....and CW is missing an "O" from the middle.  "COW"? How about "BULL"?)

should replace with a Frozen Musical show

That show is the worst thing to happen to television since its invention.  I would kill everyone I know and myself before I would watch one second of it.

They already have one at the park, as of this summer... or do you mean moving it to the AI building as a permanent location? "Frozen on Ice" would be a decent use of the indoor space.

For years it was popular. As the show became less popular, the attraction has too. Just an example of something that was never going to last forever finally getting the axe.

Rumors I've seen indicate that's exactly what's going to happen- AIE goes away, the Frozen sing along moves in and takes over that space.

I'd be okay if Indy goes if they did replace it with Star Wars land. I do love the Indy show though. The American Idol Experience was a rather weak show. I remember it replacing something more fun but can't place what it was (or maybe that was one building over)

I can easily duplicate the American Idol experience at home.

I can take a lot of pills and then ramble nonsensically for 5 minutes about how they tried their best and it was a good effort and I want a pony that pukes rainbows AND SIMON I LOVE YOU WHY DON'T YOU LOVE ME BACK!?

Star Wars land should be its own park at Disney World. Between the new movies coming out and the huge, multi-generational existing fan base, it would be a huge draw.
It would also help to spread out the crowds a bit. Now that they've built their millionth hotel on the property, the parks are crowded even during the extra magic hours.

Universal's Harry Potter stuff  is much better than anything Disney has and I don't even care about Harry Potter. Disney's going to have to step up their game for Star Wars.

I've seen this idea bandied about for a while, and I just keep thinking that for every person that loves Star Wars, there are five like me that think that it is, at best, a decent movie franchise.  I don't think that is a good enough ratio to build a 5th gate.  Either make Star Wars land as a part of DHS, or make a more encompassing 5th gate featuring Star Wars, Marvel, and other more "Adult" properties and create a Cedar Point with Disney appeal.

I'm wondering when the SW expansion will happen. I thought they'd announce this summer. I'm wondering if the Avatar land will be any good. That seemed like an odd choice/panic move after Harry Potter's success at US. I do wish Disney would get a new 5th gate though. This period is the longest they've gone in between opening gates and there is no new one in sight.

Aww, that's too bad. I used to be a singer, on the verge of going professional, but riiiiight after I landed all the awesome things I'd worked for, I got sick. Really sick. I should have been in a hospital sick. 3 weeks later, the pneumonia from hell started to recede, and I found myself going from a 3-octave first soprano to, like, 6 notes somewhere in the middle of alto. I also lost all the breath control I'd had. It never came back.

My husband and I were there, and he knows I get terrible stage fright and unfairly judge myself by what I used to be. He wheeled me up to the back of that (I need a wheelchair sometimes) and told the bored-looking guy there "Hi. This is my wife. Make her sing for you." "Okay, whenever you're ready!" Me: *shiatshiatshiatshiat* Uh...

Long story short, my husband escaped with his life, I got into one of the shows as a contestant, and it ended up being a really cool, fun thing to do. (Would've been better if they'd set that thing up in Epcot instead. I could've run to the Mexico pavilion and done tequila shots beforehand, dammit!) I didn't win; I came in second by a hair, and the judges actually biatched the crowd out for it. The girl who won? Miniskirt that nobody realized she was wearing NOTHING under. She went past the marks we were asked to hit and did a whole lot of dancing on the edge of the stage. And there's camera guys down in front, so... She knew exactly what she was doing.

The "Randy" judge: Well, well. We have a Rachel Berry.
Her: Oh, thank you so much!
"Randy": That was not a compliment.

I wouldn't have won the top prize anyway; I'm 34. (Not to mention, I wouldn't touch American Idol with a ten foot pole.) But it was fun.

/CSB, I know

Before they do that they should make everyone involved go to Universal Studios and see Harry Potter Land. I'm not even a Harry Potter fan and I didn't understand most of what I was seeing but it was better than anything Disney World ever did.

Bob Iger dropped hints at the recent earnings call that there would definitely be a "major" investment in the parks featuring Star Wars, which would be announced in early 2015.  The rumor mill suggests it would be a significant expansion to Hollywood Studios, but other rumors suggest the possibility of a 5th park, or perhaps a whole themed hotel along with a major expansion.  Having just returned from a trip and having visited Hollywood Studios, I hope to God it's a whole new park because that park already seems super crowded - adding "Star Wars" would make it MISERABLE to navigate.

Now if only Disney could find some way to weasel out of the Marvel contract with Universal Studios ... a Marvel / Star Wars park ?  That would be amazing.

I heard it was Tomorrowland at DisneyWorld but that was just a rumor. I don't know that Hollywood Studios has enough room. Right now they're busy doing Avatar Land, which I don't think anyone asked for.

Deep down, in the part of each of us that we don't like to discuss at parties

We all care if a lightsaber can cut through admantium. We all care

I don't know if "Avatar Land" is referring to James Cameron's BS or Avatar: The Last Airbender, but either way - DO NOT WANT. (I'm *still* mad at Shyamalan for screwing with something so great and turning it into the cinematic abortion that it became.)

Also, lightsaber vs. adamantium? Geek fight. It's ON.

I may be committing nerd seppuku here, but - I hated it. For many reasons. (Although, I feel the same way about that as I do about the Star Wars prequels. I have zero hate for the actors. You could put Meryl Streep in the crappiest movie ever, and it would still be awful and not her fault, necessarily. Even the best actors can only elevate shiatty material so far.)
