Or just let the winds slowly erode it over time.

2014-08-16 01:24:07 PM
Fark that place. Too hot or too cold depending on the wind that day. I saw Willie Mays play there as a kid, Joe Montana as a teen as well as My first ever rock concert (The Who's some girls tour) but it's time to move on. That park is an abomination designed by a sadist.

I was there Thursday night.  Great experience, great set list.

That said, driving there and back is a complete joke.  I for one will not miss Candlestick.

2014-08-16 02:14:09 PM
It was awesome! Everything the man said about the music. But I must add, more moving than the music was Paul McCartney thanking US after every song. Thanking us for appreciating him. Either that or thanking God for the incredible gifts. Either way, complete total CLASS ACT.

I thought the Stones did the Some Girls tour?

Candlestick had the worst seats I ever watched a pro football game from.

I got there once, just before the Giants left. It was the last night game in the ballpark and everyone got an honorary Croix de Candlestick, even though the game didn't go to extra innings. The irony was that the weather was beautiful that night...

I know I've said it many times before, but is Fenway Park next on the list to be demolished?

/loves looking at center field instead of home plate.

they'll never demolish fenway.  Just keep finding ways to add more seats.

It was, for some reason I always get dyslexic between those two bands. I've seen them both so I should know better. Brain fart on my part.

Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, blow up the park called Candlestick...you'll probably hear that the
day Candlestick Park is demolished.

Today, the 'Stick.  Tomorrow, the Giants.

/good riddance

Wasn't it built on a landfill? Swear I remember hearing stories from players complaining of the stench when it rained.

My friend's mom took us to the Beatles concert. I guess I was 13. Didn't keep the ticket stubs (as far as I can remember; if I did they're lost). Standing in line outside to get in a plane was flying over throwing out  PR flyers advertising a new TV show that was coming - The Monkees.

Only time I ever went to Candlestick.

I came to say that it had the worst seats I'd ever seen a sporting event from. Went to a Giants/Dodgers game while on vacation and just watched the drunks around me because I couldn't see half the field.

2014-08-16 05:06:23 PM
The 'Stick is iconic because of who played there, in spite of itself. The pace saw a lot of history and should be remembered as such. But it needs to go, this should have happened a couple of years ago now.

I've seen a lot of good games, and been completely miserable just about every time I was there. Good riddance.

When they tear down Candlestick what are they going to put in its place?

2014-08-16 07:23:46 PM
It's the former home of Super Bowl champions and World Series victors.

Which home team won the World Series in candlestick again?

In fairness, the A's DID finish the sweep in Candlestick. I dunno if I'd call the few days they were there enough to qualify the place as "home," though.

Lord they have tried to pull down Fenway a few times.  Every time, the locals get furious. Not letter writing furious, but death threat, drunken Boston riot, someone's gonna get killed furious.  You'd have better luck demolishing Fanueil Hall.

There was nothing wrong with Candlestick that couldn't be fixed by bringing along a warm blanket. Anyway, for a park put up in short notice of the Giants coming in the 1950s, it did what it had to do.

2014-08-16 08:07:04 PM
Why tear it down? Maybe they can let the homeless sleep and toilet and shower themselves there.

2014-08-16 09:22:32 PM
I only went to the 'stick once, I was in the upper deck for a Giants game. I got up to go get a beer and while in the aisle, a gust of wind came from behind and almost sent me tumbling off the upper deck.

I will cheer when that shiathole monument to the stupidity that were multi-purpose stadiums implodes.

I've only been to Wrigley Field once, does it still smell like a open sewer in the non-seat parts?

As a native New Englander, I know that nothing will ever be done to rehab a historic building until it "accidentally" catches fire and burns to the ground.

I love the Red Sox, I just hate that farking ballpark.
