Go Swans! Don't lose. And if you do, don't make it 4-1 again.

Things I didn't think would happen: Praise for Ashley Young.

I looked at the Utd line up this morning and... WTF? I know we have an absurd number of injuries considering the season hasn't even started, but even so... Where's the raft of big-name signings we were supposed to get?

Although I would never support United against a smaller club, English Football and world football are better with a strong United, so I will not be terribly upset if they prevail today.

Rooney's being greedy, isn't he? Good.

.

Go to: http://predictor.talksport.co.uk

See the Talksports pages for help on making predictions.

We'll take scores from the  2nd round of games commencing  23rd August. If you miss this deadline don't worry, you won't be far behind the leaders.

Use this week for practicing.

Princip's Sandwich: Things I didn't think would happen: Praise for Ashley Young.

He looks like he's getting the hang of the wing-back role, and a willingness to put in the miles it demands. And Valencia looked like he instantly picked up the system too. Both of them seem much more effective than under DM's system of "run to the end line and put in a poor cross".

When everybody is fit, the wing-back system looks like a good match for Utd's squad. But damn, we need some decent defenders.

If Routledge handles his first long pass well, Swansea could very well be winning this. A back 3 requires sharp defenders, and Phil Jones doesn't seem to be one.

I'm already in mid-season form.

Of course, in my case that means predicting the games about as well as a chimpanzee throwing poop at a dart board...

Because Old Trafford? It's also Mike Dean doing it, so maybe Dyer looked at him funny.

Phil Jones always looks like he's got a badly mistimed challenge in him.

To be honest, it has to be said that SAF's track record with the players he bought in his later years was patchy at best.

If Scholes really did say Swansea are going down, I'd like to just point at the scoreline.

Legal in the NBA, illegal in the NFL, ??? in the EPL?

Utd look good in possession and moving forward without quite seeming to get into the box or generate any threat on goal. Same old story, I'm afraid.

I don't care if it blows my banker in Week 1, I just want these 3 points.

I'm beginning to think my pick of Rooney for my main forward, is a bad one.

Gotta agree with Chupacabra Sandwich, that's a pretty bold pick. It's tough to make these the opening day of the season since the transfer window. Right now, with the transfers made to date, I'd put the final day of the season as this:

1. Chelsea
2. Arsenal
3. Man City
4. Man United

I'd say the 2/3 slot would be  really tight, and could be either team. That said, the transfers over the next couple weeks will affect that. Arsenal's team might be passable for a title run with no injuries, but al lot of us think that we need to upgrade at Arteta's holding mid role, and some kind of coverage at CM to make up for the loss of Vermaelen. Some also think we need a proper striker to replace Giroud, which I'm not as sure about. He's not a face-forward striker that runs at defenders, he's a hold-up striker with the flick to running strikers. Arsenal has lots of attacking threats, what we need is defensive solidity. We got creamed repeatedly by top four teams last year.

Is Tan still being a dictator over at Cardiff? He's thankfully vanished from the news recently, at least at Eurosport.
