(Mashable)   Remember yesterday's story about how the ALS "ice bucket challenge" is a heinous waste? Yeah, Bill Gates just did it. Better: in awesomely dorky style. Best: he challenges Elon Musk to go next   (mashable.com ) divider line

SO I assume what was edited out of the video was Gates trying several times to pull the rope, having to refill the bucket twice, and then waiting for the system to update before he could get doused.

What are the odds that a man named Lou Gehrig would actually get Lou Gerhig's disease?

I'll pay to see someone take an icewater enema to raise awareness for ass cancer.

That's it.

There were probably a few times he pulled the rope and the entire thing crashed on him.

No, dummy. Lou Gehrig was the guy that invented it.

Someone should start a challenge like this for conservative fundraising. Except use a bucket of molten lava.

Delta1212: If you're not physically working at a medical research lab, any funds you raise to pay for research is a worthless gesture.

Listen to this man, for he speaks the truth. We didn't eradicate smallpox through people pouring billions of dollars into medical experiments and epidemiological models that they didn't understand. We got the job done by millions of working class Americans setting up medical labs in their basements or garages, and doing the research on their own instead of depending on big government to do it for them.

But awareness, man. *Awareness*.

God "awareness" is such horseshiat.  Yep, really curing disease with that.

Yeah, fark that $8 million dollars in awareness. What the hell good is that doing anyone?

It cures disease the same way the yellow ribbon car stickers "supported the troops".

If you're not physically working at a medical research lab, any funds you raise to pay for research is a worthless gesture.

Oh, right. Researchers work for free using equipment they find in the woods.

People have done a lot more for many a less worthy (or no) cause, so I'm OK with this. He obviously never took technical drawing in school though.

I think Bill Gates would help the cause a lot more if he contributed a few million dollars. You know, pocket change.
