For that type of street cleaning a police escort is reasonable. Don't need some dumbass running into thats what im guessing are giant pressure washers.

Probably just another eccentric chinese billionaire out shopping for another condo.

Hipster slime doesn't come off the streets easily.

Sad part is how it will now just accumulate in their sewer system. With their SkyTrain, I think they can avoid the problems New York has had with slime in their subways.

Huh, can't say I've seen that before.

Which is why every other muni does it at 2-5 am.

In the US they use excessive police force to tase, pepper spray, assault, and shoot their citizens who have gathered on the streets.

In Canada they use excessive police force to make sure their streets are in the best possible condition for their citizens to use.

I wouldn't have thought so, but FARK and Vancouver 2011 taught me otherwise.

I see rioting over a Canucks loss has already been covered.  There is so much to hate about the Canucks.

Washing the streets in a place where it rains every f*cking day.....makes sense......

A little google maps detective work reveals this to be the intersection of Robson and Thurlow.  I thought that this might have been post-fireworks cleanup, but it appears to be a little far away from English Bay to be that.  Any Vancouverites want to weigh in?  Is this just standard procedure?  In Calgary, we only ever get that ambitious about street cleaning after a parade of horses has gone through.

Not only that, it's much more organized to do it that way.  Clear the streets, escort them through and they're finished in a few minutes.  Much less obtrusive.

I love how the only thing people seem to be able to talk about when it comes to Vancouver was a riot three years ago. Because apparently that's all the city is.

What's Vancouver known for apart from riots and uh, fun to watch but ultimately third rate science fiction tv shows?

Cruise ships? Shopping? Manhattan prices? Views? Gateway to Alaska? I mean like what?

Well they do have the Sedin twinks.  You have to be proud of something I guess.  Also "The X-Files" was not a third rate science-fiction TV show.

Oh, I don't live there.

And I loved the X-Files, but it's my theory that the X-Files (which left Vancouver about 16 years ago) did spawn a huge industry of mostly third rate SF coming out of Vancouver. (My guilty pleasure is watching and groaning over many of them.)

The Imperial March started playing in my head as I watched that.

Commodore Ballroom, Granville Island, Wreck Beach, Grouse Mtn. tram, etc....

Van has amazing selection of restaurants, great arts scene, and is a beautiful city wedged between mountains and ocean....I personally don't like cities at all but I always enjoy the time there....

Or some dumbass driver suing the city after they lose control driving too fast for conditions.

No, the Vancouver BC sewer system flushes the hipster slime out into the Puget Sound, where it gets all over Seattle and into your cup of Starbucks.

That explains why the coffee there is so expensive. They pass on the tariff fee from crossing the border.

All too familiar with Canadians and their fetish for clean streets:

Are they prepping to film a street scene for a TV show, movie, or commercial?

I know they like to wet the streets at night because it makes all the city and car lights reflect and look oh so pretty on camera.

And the garbage trucks are there to pick up trash so the street is clean for the shiny car to drive down.

Just my thought...

They found an ebola victim dead in the street. Its bleach not water.

/Just kidding

What I and wondering, and hope it happens..

How much other farked up shiat will the FBI find (outside of Mike Brown) about that PD's operations and handling of things.. The FBI walking in there to investigate one crime is like dad investigating that strange smell coming from his teenage sons room.  You know he's going to find more dumb shiat his kid is doing.
