Banana bags and benzos for everyone! I think this has been a hard-partying kind of summer for everybody.

Denzel is a handsome man.

Oh jeez. So, he basically did what my wealthy lush parents do every July, except he detoxed afterwards. Good on him.

One source says this was more than just alcohol ... it was an overall cleanse for toxins.  In addition to the professional who supervised the detox, we're told Denzel had a nutritionist, a trainer and a chef.

Must be nice.

Sources connected with the actor tell TMZ Denzel was on a yacht during the month of July with his wife ... and was partying and partying hard.

So the story here is that a man went on holiday, consumed a lot of food and drink, then went on a diet to get healthy again when he came back? Truly fascinating stuff.

Articles OTHER than TMZ says that Denzel typically does this "cleansing" before he starts shooting his next films, so this is a big deal about nothing.

On the other hand I had to make sure they were talking about Denzel and not Samuel L Jackson.

I had an enormous dinner Thursday night, a fair sized breakfast yesterday, a giant lunch, then followed up with an even bigger evening meal last night. Let's just say, my legs are still weak after detoxing in the bathroom for 30 minutes this morning. Anyway, just thought you'd all want to know.

He's an actor.  An aging actor with a wide range but a fairly dominant casting as a sex symbol and a leading man.  Detoxing is part of the job--a part of the job that Harrison Ford apparently has no time for.

You actually have.no.idea. what is all in his system, or how long he's been doing it, Smartypants.

Detoxification in the context of alternative medicine consists of an approach that claims to rid the body of "toxins" - accumulated harmful substances that allegedly exert undesirable effects on individual health in the short or long term. Detoxification usually includes one or more of: dieting, fasting, consuming exclusively or avoiding specific foods (such as fats, carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, juices, herbs, or water), colon cleansing, chelation therapy, or the removal of dental fillings.[1][2]

The British organisation Sense About Science has described body cleansing as "a waste of time and money";[3][4] many researchers agree that there is no clinical evidence that such diets are effective.[5] The "toxins" usually remain undefined, with little to no evidence of toxic accumulation in the patient.[6]

I have done detox cold-turkey, and with the amount I was drinking, it's a miracle I didn't seize and die. And for almost three weeks, I seriously wanted to die. It was torture. The visual hallucinations, not being able to sleep for days at a time, even though I was dead tired, auditory hallucinations (imagine getting an earworm that won't go away for a week). Lying in bed with restless legs and arms, but you're too weak to get up and do anything about it. Then the ideas about suicide start because being dead would be a lot less painful. Anybody who's ever gone through this or watched somebody go through this knows exactly why alcoholics keep drinking. It keeps the demons away. It's not just about getting shaky hands.

I did detox in a hospital once, too. That wasn't pleasant, but it was a hell of a lot better than what I went through doing it on my own.

If you're in a situation where you really need to stop drinking, don't do it by yourself. Get help from professionals who know what the hell they're doing.

Pretty much this but he had the money to have people around him to monitor his "come down"
