They are both playing relatively mediocre. They'll go 6-10 regardless of whos under center

There's no way they want him to get injured before the season starts. He's Johnny Farkin' Football.

They're waiting until they're on national television to get him clobbered

...you mean Monday Night Football isn't "national" enough?

And even if they were both "lighting it up", you wouldn't know it from the receivers. Hell, even Gordon looks crappy right now.

As someone who follows the Clowns, I hope they ignore all the idiots saying he should be starting and let him learn how to QB in the NFL from the sidelines for at least a full season.  Or they can keep doing what helps make them the Clowns and keep running out rookie QBs who have to run for their life with no receivers to throw to, then start it all over again with a new QB in 2-3 seasons.

Good, you shouldn't start the season with a rookie QB under center anyway. Especially not one that's a runner. Give him a few weeks of full-tilt competition to get used to the speed of the NFL and a little more time getting into sync with the O-Line.

Since this is Cleveland they'll take him off of reps with the first team o-line during practice, not let him play for the rest of the preseason, and then slot him in as the starter for the first game of the season

Johnny Bench called....

They should commit to Hoyer for the first half of the season.  If they are 3-5 or better and he's playing well, they should just run with him until they are eliminated from the playoffs.  Bring in Manziel at the end of the season when they are out of contention, to give him a bit of a head start for 2015.

Of course, I thought the same thing about Seattle and Wilson a couple of years ago, so it shows their isn't a blueprint for this kind of thing.

/I would absolutely love it if Hoyer plays lights-out football this year while leading the Browns to at least one playoff win.  The medias' heads would explode in the offseason.

I wish he were on a team.built for him like Philly. He would shine in chip kelly's system.

I think you mean Johnny "Benched"....unless somehow the Cincinnati Reds become football players.
(They won't be terribly successful at that, either.)

Johnny Bench had a better arm then Manziel and Hoyer.  It's probably still close.

Can we make this the unofficial Preseason thread for today?

LOLi Manning.

1/7, 7 yds, 1 sack, -6 yds.

That's some fine efficiency.

Bills are in Pittsburgh.  I took a trip there to watch a soccer game a few weeks ago.

Since I do not work for ESPN, Johnny Manziel is of marginal importance to me.

I think the Giants could be working towards a Texans-style rebuilding plan this season

I suppose when your backup is Curtis Painter there isn't much incentive to give a sh*t.
