Alec Baldwin defends Rand Paul from Washington Time piece that said Paul skipped out of religious conservative event in order to schmooze with Baldwin at a fundraiser?

Uh-huh.

I was gonna find something witty to say here but then I read the sidebar story about Gregory leaving MTP and started cheering loudly and forget whatever joke I was gonna tell.

Pretend I said something funny here.

this..... WTF was that brutal abortion of the english language meant to grow up to convey before it met its demise?

Mr. Baldwin later explained to a Buzzfeed reporter that what he meant was, when you are a guest at a fancy benefit event in East Hampton, the general aura of power, wealth and privilege is so all-encompassing that even Rand Paul gets to bask in its warm glow.

I think they were trying to say that WaTi got it wrong when they said RAND PAUL was schmoozing with Baldwin at a political fundraiser cos he was really just attending a library fundraiser which isn't the same thing or something.

I t was pretty awful even by what I will laughingly call the Washington Times' "standards".

I kind of got that too but they were pissy in the first place because he told the Christians he had a family obligation. I suspect we have both already spent more time trying to understand this than anyone took to write it.

I agree. Only media outlets that I personally have bookmarked hold any relevance in the world. All others might as well go to Ferguson and intentionally provoke the police into arresting me.

I once heard someone from a small town say (paraphrased), "When you hear a rumor, you usually just brush it off. But when you read it on the internet, then you know there must he something to it." And she wasn't just referring to trash articles like this, she was talking about posts on comment boards and forums.

So there you have it - people will believe it if it is on the internet.

My stepmother once tried to tell me the internet was a pit of sin and vice and lies, and that there is no such thing as an honest web page. While she may have been correct about the first part of that sentence, I decided to fark with her and sent her a link to Fox news, as well as some Bible sites.

All of a sudden it wasn't "all lies," just mostly lies.

Such an amazing transformation. Similar thing happened with my mother-in-law. She hates South Park because of how they make fun of Christians and small towns and a bunch of other things she thinks people shouldn't say bad things about, but loves the Mormon episode becuse they make fun of Mormons.

She's also told me that research articles showing that Fox News lies to theor viewers were wrong because they came from liberal ivory tower universities who are always wrong anyways, and then says how proud of me she is for working on my PhD at the very same (now prestigious) institution.

Her opinions change by the second depending on the desired outcome of the sentence. And it is something I see come from many modern Republicans.
