Sounds like he's being respectful about the whole thing. I don't really follow them, though, so no idea what the internal issues might be.

Maybe there aren't any.  Might be one of those rare occasions when there's no drama, someone just wants a change.

Might not be any. He's had a pretty successful career as a producer on the side for many years, and I think he made a solo record at one point. This is one of those cases where, if he says he just wants to spend more time doing other things, I'm inclined to believe him.

wish i could've taken the afternoon off today to go to the kxt summer cut fest going on north of dallas...dcfc headlining (not my favorite band, but i like 'em and would like to see them), the hold steady right before them, and many other good bands

Trail of Dead: DCFC sucks balls. Postal Service sucks more balls. Just awful.

I've never really listened to the band, but I like the name. It's the name of a song by The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, who were sort of the TMBG of the sixties. They played it in the Magical Mystery Tour movie.

/another song gave The Trouser Press its name.

Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard released a statement about this, but paused to suck in a loud gigantic breath every four words so it was really hard to listen to.

I never thought I liked DCFC very much, for whatever reason. And then I got to see them, live, just 6 days ago at a music festival.

And now I know for certain. I do not like DCFC. At all.

Their newer stuff has been pretty awful. Not a bad move.

They're also associated a bit with Monty Python (at least Neil Innes is). Sir Robin's Troubadours included him and he wrote a good chunk of the songs associated with the Pythons.

Sad to see him go but I hope he pursues music production as opposed to a solo career, he has produced some great albums by other acts but his own material is a bit lackluster.

People who have followed the band for years kind of felt this was going to happen, the writing was on the wall a few years back based on some interviews he gave.

2014-08-15 09:48:30 PM
Really? Both he and the band sounded really respectful of one another. But then again I haven't really listened to anything from any of them aside from one album from the Postal Service, so I'm no sure how my personal biases regarding their music is supposed to play into all of this.

At least you gave them a chance?
