I wish mandatory birth control was a thing.  Some people just seem to be a bit too  fertile for their own (or society's) good.

she's a good mom--how many moms would leave the kids at home and not take them for a drive to see the sights, get some fresh air, and do something together.   terrific bonding time with the kids.

Oh, that takes me back.  One time dad and I were fishing some river in Idaho and we'd moved upriver quite a distance from where we started.  I was going back to the truck for some reason and dad joked, "Why don't you move the truck closer?"  I gave it some thought as I was walking and figured why not.  I was big enough to reach the pedals and see over the wheel.  So I drove about half a mile up the windy, mountain road and found a spot on the shoulder near our new fishing spot.  A couple hours later, we called it a day and dad started walking down the river.  "No, the truck's right here."  Dad's brain locked for a few moments while he processed that.  Probably had visions of what mom would do to him if she found out, visions of me having a head-on collision, wondering what would have happened if a cop saw me.  "Next time I say something like that, I'm joking.  Don't really do it."

HMS_Blinkin: I wish mandatory birth control was a thing.

Honestly, this.

And put all women (and men, once we work out the chemistry) on it by law until they're 18, barring an actual documented medical issue with the drugs.  Then automatically sterilize permanently anyone that becomes a parent before that deadline (dna tests make finding the father and getting him too fairly easy, not like teenagers are mobile).

That'd solve a good 10 or 20% of society's problems almost immediately.  The people that want to have irresponsible sex are all sterilized, no teen pregnancy... that alone will likely cut our crime rate in like half.

2014-08-14 12:04:34 AM
I don't believe in mandatory birth control, but I do believe long term methods of birth control should be free and freely available to whoever wants them.  IUDs, Depro shots, hell even Essure if they want it.  Plenty of people would opt for it if it didn't cost them anything and we'd all be better for it.

You know who else agrees with forced medical procedures and sterilizations? Seriously, that's a pretty damn awful position to take.

Even though I'm already 3 years older than her, every story about a shiatty teen/early 20s parent makes me so farking happy that I don't have any kids. It also makes me delay my target date for when I finally settle down by a year. I think I'll start thinking about kids at around 56 at this point.

This is true, because as a rule, teen/early unwanted pregnancies tend to only be a community-wide problem with people already in poverty. Once you get to the middle class that can pay for it, as long as they are educated about and use proper birth control, it becomes almost impossible to get pregnant accidentally (or give birth unwillingly). It seems like every female friend I have is on some form of birth control and for good reason. That shiat usually works. The science is pretty much there. So if we decided as a society to provide and educate on this issue, it would solve most things. But no, as everyone knows, if you tell a teen not to fark, they won't do it. Because Jesus.

But if they do do it, they deserve to be punished for it (just the girls, of course, because boys will be boys).

I agree but it would take about 30 seconds before Sharpton/Jackson are crying "genocide" and "racism".

/DC tried the 5 year implant, with expected results.
