Your girlfriend faked Shark Week?

The song they're using for the "Sharky!" promo, "Me and You" by Nero, is a strip club favorite.

Arkanaut: Your girlfriend faked Shark Week?

No.  Discovery faked one of their biggest draws; a mythical shark dubed "Submarine".  Submarines go under water, basically, they "go down".  So the Subby's saying his girlfriend fakes going down.

Subby, how the hell does she fake going down?

If your girlfriend is faking shark week, you have a very strange relationship.

Maybe subby is just her chum.

Two words: Shiat Week.

They jumped Shark Week last year with the fake thing about a living megaladon.

I enjoy the real stuff they do and even some of the silly stuff.  Samberg doing Shark Town was a hoot and the Mythbusters doing Shark related myths with a working Megaladon skull crushing things last year in Venice beach was cool.

But yeah, I saw a couple minutes of the Submarine special thing, rolled my eyes, and turned it back to ESPN.

Nation Geographic is doing sharke fest. Other than every other show being about bull sharks not too bad.

The schnees started watching "Submarine" and I remember thinking "is this a fake-u-mentory with 'found footage'? Because the footage feels polished" but then convinced myself that it was real. Once we saw someone get attacked, Mrs schnee and I felt that this was a little too graphic for the little schnee's.

Dammit Discovery.

They had Steve Austin, the wrestler, on "Shark after Dark" and made stupid celebrity jokes the entire time. It was painful to watch and it actually hurt to really see how low Discover has sunk.

The hammerhead-centered show the other night was pretty cool, even if much of it was speculative. Last night's deep-sea "alien" shark show was really interesting, but I kept thinking to myself "Quit taking them out of their environment so you can point at them and say HOW farkING COOL IS THIS QUICK WE MUST PUT HIM BACK."

Holy crap, really? I haven't tuned in yet this year and I don't think I will.

My favourite examples of the downfall of the science documentary are from National Geographic. In the first few minutes of a doc about the Mariana Trench, the narrator calls it the Marinara Trench. And in one about reef fish the narrator uses the word specie constantly, as if it's singular for species. And those examples are just off the top of my head.

Really? You guys have never heard a lady use "Shark Week" to refer to, uh, a week in which she is chumming the waters, as it were?

That's what I figured subby meant -- she was pretending to be on the rag to get out of him sinking HIS submarine.

My wife is currently clogging up our dvr with that insipid horse shiat.

It all pales in comparison to Shart Week. Brilliant.

I found Sloth Week far more enjoyable.

Ok good, glad I wasn't the only one who found Subby's headline confusing.

I thought I started drinking at lunch but forgot.

Since when are sharks popular enough to garner a weeks worth of attention every year?  I don't know anyone who talks about shark week, let alone talk about how excited they are to see it for the x year in a row.  Are we really learning so much new stuff about sharks from year to year that we need a whole week about them?  What about elephant week, or lion week?

Shark week is weak.

My girlfriend made me sit and watch the Mermaid show. She had already seen it and was amazed. Towards the end I looked over at her and said "How gullible are you?"  The next day I found the news of the hoax and showed her.

I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever let her live it down.

Shark week is weak.

Clearly not, as Discovery Channel is just making shiat up wholesale at this point.
Screw you, Discovery Channel. You used to be cool.

Actually, marinara trench would potentially look a lot like Shark Week.
