Had the pleasure of using Uber in Denver last week.  So much easier (and cheaper!) than a taxi.  One of the drivers even told us he also works for Lyft.  My favorite driver was named Asnake.  I wanted to sing Badger, Badger, Badger the entire time he was driving.

I use Uber, because I like the product. The third worst interview I ever had was with Uber, which wasn't much behind the times I was interviewed by brogrammers who repeatedly asked me if I could fit in for the first 10 minutes of the interview (instead of you know, my skills) or the time I interviewed with a creeper with Wells-Fargo who asked me if I "liked to party."

It honestly doesn't surprise me that the people there are surprised that there's competition where there's money to be made.

Simple, charge $1 to make a booking which is then included in your final fare charge.

Problem with that is when you book you can see your car, and sometimes they drive away from you and you watch the time estimate go from 1 to 8 minutes away pretty quick.

When that happens you have to just cancel. Happens to me in chicago all the time and sometimes it's just because they get lost or because the drivers can't cancel a trip and they want to.

And I'll be damned if I get charged a dollar for that.

Pssh. That's only 13 grand, and they're worth 10 billion!

I'm no Uber fanboi but I think an organized sabotage campaign by Lyft to spam ride requests and cancel on Uber is bit more of a shady "disruption" than Uber just providing a service that competes with traditional cabs.

So waive the fee for users f they're cancelling due to a driver going the wrong way or whatever.

Hell, saying 'buy us out or we'll break your website' seems to be wire fraud-extortion, but IANAL.
