I got my eye on a Bob-o-pedic which is a cheaper version of a memory foam mattress. Tax-free weekend coming up.

This is comparing two what are essentially the same mattress. Not expensive vs cheap mattresses.

Pay attention to crush value. Cheap ones tend to stay crushed in the middle.

I bought a $400 full no-name mattress set from a local mom & pop mattress store 2 years ago...It is unbelievably comfortable. Price is no indication of 'comfortableness'.

I got a king-size mattress and bed (frame/headboard/footboard) from a mom & pop in exchange for making them a website. It's a Bemco, I think. It's got a "gel" layer that is sort of like memory foam. It's probably the best thing ever.

I just recently bought a Bed-in-a-box and it is just about the best damn mattress that I have ever slept on (the Mandarin . I got one with the "outlast" gel that makes it less hot to sleep on. I love it.

It is about 1/3 the cost of a comparable Tempurpedic.

picked up a serta icomfort last year for %65 off. I've never slept better. They have come a long way on the memory foam mattresses. The first gen ones suck big ones, like sleeping in a sweat box.

Will it be the last mattress I ever own?

$1,000? $3,000? Drop a zero and tell me whether a $300 one is 3 times more expensive than a $100 one. That's more my budget.

I'm quite happy with the $599 Queen Size Sealey Posturpedic I got at Haverty's a few months ago.

The wife bought us a $4000 Tempu-pedic or whatever it's called to replace the 15 year old Futon we've been sleeping on.

I miss the futon...
