I am torn on this one. On the one hand everyone deserves to have a professional prank free work place. On the other hand you should always lock your computer when you are not at it. On the third hand the other guy sent it to 2300 people and that is way excessive for a 'prank'. On the fourth hand this guy is so homophobic that the mere implication he might be gay causes him medical conditions?

IMHO prankster should be fired but not owe money. Prankee should get over himself.

/Yes I have four hands... I mean some people call the last two feet but I prefer to call them my third and fourth hands.
//Also got a third leg!
///Not a penis joke. Just deformed.

A big wheel at one of my company's biggest customers occasionally copies me in on some really work-inappropriate stuff by mistake (hasty tab-completion, I assume - one of their engineers has a very similar email to mine) doesn't bother me, but I wonder about the confused look the intended recipient must have when asked about them later...

You'd think a continent that started out as a prison colony would have this worked out by now.

District Court Judge Susanne Cole this week ruled Adelaide Remand Centre officer Cosimo Tassone should receive $100,000 for non-economic loss, medical expenses and loss of wages over the email incident in July 2011. The email read: "Hello people, just a note to say that I am a homosexual and I am looking for like minded people to share time with."

Did he take up people on responses or something?

Considering this is how a large percentage of men joke with each other when they're too lazy to think of anything clever/intelligent/just anything really, I need to start collecting my $100,000.00 per person who's ever said this.

/Easy millions
//Let the gay times roll.

Don't people just punch each other anymore? Everyone is all sue, sue sue. A shot to the nuts probably would have taught him a lesson too.

CruJones: armor helix: The dumbass sent that email to 2300 people and didn't think he was going to get sued/fired over it?

If you don't lock your computer at my work you're pretty likely to have an "I love ponies" email sent to 5,500 people, and that's pretty much also implying you're gay. It's how we teach newbies to keep their computers locked when they get up. Alternatives are offering to sell you computer/car/concert tickets really really cheap

I did a 6 month contract with the IT security dept at a European national bank.

It was an unwritten departmental policy that if you left the immediate team area without locking your PC, you were fair game. Managers included. Mails were however meant to be limited to the IT teams. It was usually offers to buy the beers at lunch 😁

A colleague of mine worked at a telecoms provider where it was official policy to send an email to the security team from any unlocked PC. If it happened 3 times, that was it, you were fired.

The unasked question here is how many recipients responded with a DIE request?

I thought that too, until I realized these dumbasses are prison guards.

Defense should have been that homosexuals are given equal treatment, therefore it is not defamatory.
