I'd be more afraid the kids will make the animals sick.

You know things are bad when we have to be reminded to wash our hands.

You mean in case they come into contact with a germ they otherwise wouldn't run into in the course of touching their noses, their friends' noses, the ground, the dog, the cat's litter box, picking up a snail to see what it runs on, dirt, dust bunnies, the scum in the bottom of the fish tank, three-day old produce, mildew in the shower, gum under the seat at the restaurant, spider webs, their hair, their friends' hair, the guinea pig's hair, chewed pencils....

Such things strengthen one's immune system. People getting weird about it is why America is becoming a country full of wusses.

Health officials advise anyone spending time around farm animals to wash their hands.

Reason #37,448 to Start Over on Another Planet: The fact that people need to be reminded of this.

FTFY. Lack of exposure to standard germs is one reason so many more kids get severe allergies and asthma today. Give your immune system something to do, or it will find something.

phlegmmo: "We've all seen kids licking railings before," Klumb said, "so it can happen."

Licking railings at a petting zoo.  Thanks for that image.

Somebody needs to tell them railing licking is not normal behavior, but washing your hands should be.

Eh. Germs are good for kids. My dog loves to lick my 5 month old son's face. My son loves to lick back. The two of them have swapped lots of spit, so far no illnesses. My normally germaphobe wife is surprisingly ok with the whole thing, not sure why.

I type in Barnyard Filth and the first return is an MLP clip.

Oh, FARMyard Filth. That's different. And I don't think posting the cover art would be safe from a moderator's banhammer.

Let me break this one down for you.

1.  Cleanliness is next to godliness
2. Jesus is God in human form

I don't know about you, but I don't see any running water anywhere to wash hands in.  You should try reading the bible some time before you go running your mouth about silly things like washing your hands around farm animals.

Every one of the mammals depicted in this silly diorama has died, and some in a very horrible manner.

Wash up, girls. Wee beasties are on your tail.

Children and farm animals. I'd be concerned about disease and need to wash my hands after coming into contact with either one.
