Health officials advise anyone spending time around farm animals to wash their hands.

Reason #37,448 to Start Over on Another Planet: The fact that people need to be reminded of this.

Children and farm animals. I'd be concerned about disease and need to wash my hands after coming into contact with either one.

E. coli?
That's a picnic compared to syphilis.

Don't EVER let your kids touch animals or even the ground at the local park and make sure you wipe down every square inch of your stucco palace with antibacterial cleaner at least twice a day. Snowflakes last longer that way.

I'd be more afraid the kids will make the animals sick.

You know things are bad when we have to be reminded to wash our hands.

Yeah. School germs. Can't touch this.

You mean in case they come into contact with a germ they otherwise wouldn't run into in the course of touching their noses, their friends' noses, the ground, the dog, the cat's litter box, picking up a snail to see what it runs on, dirt, dust bunnies, the scum in the bottom of the fish tank, three-day old produce, mildew in the shower, gum under the seat at the restaurant, spider webs, their hair, their friends' hair, the guinea pig's hair, chewed pencils....

I grew up on a farm. I think you need to build up a tolerance or something. Played with 'em all day.

Let me break this one down for you.

I don't know about you, but I don't see any running water anywhere to wash hands in.  You should try reading the bible some time before you go running your mouth about silly things like washing your hands around farm animals.

This must be what Dr. Evil had in mind when he mentioned an evil petting zoo.

Every one of the mammals depicted in this silly diorama has died, and some in a very horrible manner.

Wash up, girls. Wee beasties are on your tail.

Yeah, where's the article that says we'll all be bubble bound babies by 2040 due to lack of exposure to allergens?

I type in Barnyard Filth and the first return is an MLP clip.

Oh, FARMyard Filth. That's different. And I don't think posting the cover art would be safe from a moderator's banhammer.

Eh. Germs are good for kids. My dog loves to lick my 5 month old son's face. My son loves to lick back. The two of them have swapped lots of spit, so far no illnesses. My normally germaphobe wife is surprisingly ok with the whole thing, not sure why.

Somebody needs to tell them railing licking is not normal behavior, but washing your hands should be.

This is the first year we missed the Rice county fair,   The petting zoo is not part of the 4-H or Open Class animal shows it is more over by the Midway.  Interesting though there is Anti-Back and sinks all over the place there.

FTFY. Lack of exposure to standard germs is one reason so many more kids get severe allergies and asthma today. Give your immune system something to do, or it will find something.

It's worse than that. I went to a little burger place right outside the university here (with a great medical program, I might add) and there were signs every two feet reminding people to bus their own tables. In a restaurant that mostly serves people who are training to become doctors.

Everybody in here complaining about people not letting their children play in dirt have no idea what e.coli is, and it shows.

/and makes for quite the hilarious read
