Nothing against Robin WIlliams, but wow.  Nine greenlit threads in less then 24 hours?  I had no idea he was such a Fark favorite.

His career was pretty long lived and prolific.  I highly doubt anybody on Fark can't think of at least one movie he was in that they really enjoyed.  Couple of bombs in there, sure, but lots of gold.

I said this last night on social media and I think it applies across a wide variety of people:

Not too many celeb deaths cause me any emotion, but this one felt like a punch to the gut. RW entertained me from stage to screen to film. The list of iconic performances is massive. He was truly an icon with amazing range.

A good portion of the Fark populace is probably of an age where he was a huge star for their entire childhood/teens, making a lot of movies that were big hits with that crowd.

Zombie Robin Williams?

2014-08-12 12:28:13 PM
Knew it, publicity stunt! Unfortunately, he can only do it once.

Honestly, I liked him as an actor in the more serious films. He is kind of like Jim Carey, he can put out a moving performance but too many times the director just wants to roll film and "let them be themselves". The hyper schtick bothers me. Look at "What Dreams May Come", though, and Williams is a hell of an actor.

It's like this pretty much everywhere. He wasn't a Fark favorite, he was a World favorite. Even Islamic terrorists loved him.

Robin Williams the zombie years, has to be better than that rv movie.

Still love good morning Vietnam.

Mrs Doubtfire sequel script + dead Robin Williams + a little re-writing = Dawn of the Doubtfire?

If only he could manged to come back to life the fame that his death will inevitably create and those movies would have put an end to his money problems for a long while.  Of course then the issue would be not spending all of that money on blow but....well that's a problem for another day.

I think this makes it even more sadder. Its not like the man had disappeared from public life, he was still very active in the industry. Suicide sucks.

Will Farrel annoyed me until I saw Stranger than Fiction. I mean, he went immediately back to mostly annoying me afterwards, but these manic comedic actors generally seem to have excellent acting chops when somebody gives them the chance.

I keep morbidly waiting for the shoe to drop on Muhammad Ali. I have no idea how he's doing, though (great, I hope.)

For Fark...when Abe Vigoda dies, a little of this site will as well.

I'll never forgive him for Fern Gully, but pretty much that

Also, go back and watch his HBO comedy special from the early 2000s, an hour and a half (I think) of just killer material

I too find it a bit odd but I heard a short clip of his stand up this morning.  The part I remember is , "If there's an earthquake in California it's just God saying 'get these condos off my back'".  But he made up for quality with quantity and speed.  This is fark doing the same.
